does anyone know anything about the deans scholarship/has anyone else been notified that they won?
Ive looked all over and there isnt hardly any mention of it at NYUs website.
Theres like a Scholars weekend thing later this month. I dont know.

I was accepted yesterday! I’m really glad to be going to a great school in the city, even if my others don’t work out. I think we’ll be finding out more before the week is out, the email says we’ll be contacted by an admissions officer about the trip within a few days, which is mandatory to be a part of the program.

I didn’t get the Dean’s Scholarship, but I got the Martin Luther King Scholarship!

Yeah I was accepted too. Got the email on Friday. Psyched for the paid for trip to NYC. Should be mad fun.

I’m pretty excited for the trip too, but my favorite part is the full tuition scholarship! not too shabby for a backup school, haha.

I think I will attend the Scholar’s Weekend to learn more. Here is some information on the website

[NYU > A & S > Honors Programs](http://cas.nyu.edu/page/ug.HonorsPrograms.html)

Did you guys apply regular decision?

Yeah I applied regular

i applied regular too. I’m excited. if i dont get in to brown/ucla this is definitely my first choice. apparently the scholarship covers highly subsidized/free trips abroad which sounds like fun. I’m excited for the scholars weekend later this month too. i haven’t been to new york in like 4 years.

I applied regular and received an email Friday saying I got the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. I’m super amped to be visiting the school at the end of the month, even if it’s my backup. :P

Wait, do these scholarship programs require separate application? Has anyone who applied ED been notified about this thing?

I received this scholarship too. I guess I’ll see some of you at Scholar’s Weekend then!

Does anybody know if we also get need based financial aid? Or is the scholarship basically our entire financial package?

And yea…the trip to NYU sounds amazing hahah. If no one minds, where’s everyone from? I’m pretty local…from New Jersey.

And how awesome do the trips for the Presidential Honors Scholars sound? This really seems like an amazing deal.

Umm I’m not sure. My letter said that the scholarship will cover my full tuition, so perhaps there is also need based financial aid to assist with food and housing costs.

I’m a military brat. Just moved to Ohio but spent my sophomore and junior years in South Korea <–definately helped out my essays.

And yep, I was super excited when I found out about that!

To those wondering about need-based financial aid, I emailed NYU with a few questions and they responded with:

You will still be considered for other need-based aid. There is no dress code, but some events will include the President and some Deans, so if you feel like dressing up a bit, that would be fine!

I received the Dean’s Scholarship too! So excited to meet everyone at the Scholar’s weekend! I’m from NY state btw

Do you have to apply separately to be considered for the deans scholarship? Let’s say I apply ED1 to CAS, will I automatically be thrown into the pool of applicants to also be considered for this full ride scholarship? What kind of stats do ppl that receive this have? How many ppl get it?

No you don’t have to apply separately for this scholarship. NYU automatically puts you in the running with our application. (I applied RD, so I’m not entirely sure if this is also the case for ED, but I have no reason to assume that policy would be any different for ED). I applied to CAS and my stats were:

2350 SAT
did not take ACT
750 SAT US
760 SAT BIO
9 AP classes - all A’s ; others were almost all honors
Took 4 AP tests so far, three 5s, one 4
Ranked 4/368 kids

Decent bit of Extra Cirrics and Volunteer stuff. My essay was my high point I think…The recommendations, I’m sure were good.

The email said 50 out of 43,000 applicants got the Dean’s Scholars…I saw some posts from previous years that said 70 or 80.

Hope that helps :)

I also got the Deans Scholarship.

Solid GPA (Top 5%) and Test Scores

ECs: Model United Nations, Harvard Model Congress, Student 2 Student (Secretary), Spanish Honors Society (Vice President), National Honors Society, JROTC (4 Years, Group Deputy Commander), Varsity Basketball (3 Years, Captain, MVP), Varsity Softball (1 Year, MIP)

Work/Volunteer: McDonalds, Community Center

Military Background: Texas, Alabama, California, Kansas, Georgia, Northern VA, Southern VA (9th), South Korea (10th and 11th), Ohio (12th)

Essays: Living Overseas connecting with my international relations passion (interesting topic), Moving right before my senior year (fun to write about)

Teacher Recs: Pretty Good I think

I hope you get to join the c/o 2016 family too :)

For those that got the scholarship, does the “Application Status” under Admissions or “Financial Aid Summary” under Financial Aid in the Albert student information website say anything? Mine still says “The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is processing your application,” and “Award access not available.” I just find this odd because the e-mail I received told me that the scholarship should already be up on Albert
