Hey guys,
I know this is a very frequent topic on here but I plan on applying to tulane this fall and apply for the infamous Deans Honor scholarship. I'm really not that creative but I can write a creative story. I have a 32 ACT, 2100 SAT, and 4.0 GPA. Will I have a chance of getting the DH if I do a creative story, or do I need to venture out more? It would help if some people who have actually won the scholarship would let me know what they did, you can PM if you wish.

If you’re good at writing, I would recommend applying for the Paul Tulane scholarship, which, like the DHS, is full tuition for all four years (five for architecture). All you have to do is write a couple extra short essays, and the prompts are creative. I won, and the essays I wrote were about my favorite childhood toy (marbles) and the place/time I would haunt if I were a ghost (Enlightenment-era coffeehouse).

By the way, if you apply early action, and Tulane admissions like you, they sometimes give merit aid, even if you don’t ask for it.

I was actually planning to apply for the Paul Tulane and the DH so I guess my real question was is it weird to do a writing project for the DH?

Not too weird, if you can incorporate the box into it thematically IMO.

Here is some past discussion http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/1007536-deans-honor-scholarship-tulane.html and if you look at post #12 you can see that my D’s project was mostly written but incorporated the box fluidly (and creatively, I say humbly) as well.

Here is another discussion, see especially page 2 http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/593661-tulane-scholarships.html
