I was looking into some projects that have been created for the DHS scholarship in the past and I was wondering... is the prompt always the same year to year? (Use the box on the next page to explore an issue, idea, academic area of interest or cause about which you feel strongly). I'm asking this because some of the examples that I've seen are really random and don't seem to fit into this prompt.

I am certain that the wording has changed a lot. As best I can recall, there were virtually no instructions at all in the past beyond “Here’s a box, do something with it”. Of course they didn’t phrase it that way, and I just cannot remember what was said. I will see if my D remembers when I talk to her, but that was 6 years ago so I am not sure if she will remember either, but she no doubt looked at it more than I did. But this prompt is definitely more specific than in the past. I really am not sure why they changed it.

It has been like that for the last few years (3 for sure but can’t comment on prior to that). It is very vague, which can be either a gift or a hindrance depending on your personality.

I “encouraged” my son to work on this for weeks but like any good child he blew me off. He waited until the last minute and pulled something out of the air and funny enough it was actuall really good! So do something that will reflect you and your personality, make Tulane want you for a student as much as you want to go there. Good Luck.
