Oops too late to fix the typo in post #94. I meant to say your account. Again CONGRATS TO ALL!

Hey Fallenchemist where are u? We are dying to share this good news with you…

Also does anyone know how many of these scholarships they give out every year?

Congratulations to everyone!!! I wish they did it this way last year, so everyone knows at the same time instead of anxiously waiting all day for the UPS guy.

I believe that they offered 75 last year.

75 given out and they expect about 50% yield

Yes, the year my DS got it they offered 100, and got about a 40% yield. I believe last year and this year they are offering 75, with hopes of close to a 50% yield. I think the further we get from Katrina, the higher the yield will be.

** I left FC a message. Hope he’ll log in and see this thread soon!

Woohoo, I got it too! YAH!! Thanks for the clue on finding it on the financial aid page!

Could someone tell me exactly where on the financial section they found it. The only one I can get onto is the award hx which only shows the Presidential. Is this the spot or is it on one of the other links

yes it is in the award section

to be exact

when u log on to gibson, go to financial aid tab, then “award history” link

Thanks. It doesnt look good for us. A couple of hours ago I clicked onto that and it just showed the Presidential. I was timed out of all of the other links. Now Im timed out of all of them . The school wouldnt tell me one way or the other over the phone.

OK. It looks like a no for us. Congrats to all you great students and parents who won.

Indeed, congrats to all!

No change on my DD’s awards, so it does not look good for her either, and it is for the best too. She was just accepted into the Yale Class of 2015 today.

Thats funny. I don’ t see anyone posting on the Yale forum that any decisions were announced today…

Sounds like some “likely” letters went out, and while certainly encouraging, they aren’t guarantees. Good luck.

^^ Look closer and you will find that LLs and personal phone calls go out to only about 200 of the most coveted applicants. The phone call came last night and the Dean’s letter arrived today. She is not an athlete or a legacy. You’ll see CoolRunning’ complaining about interviews.

Again, I am very proud that my DD was accepted to Tulane as a PS, and prayed she would earn the DHS. I hoped it would be a good time to go back to the old neighborhood. I do miss Nawlins’. But, Yale’s decision does change things, as did that of Rice University. Tulane probably saw that too, despite our connections to New Orleans and Tulane.

Congrat to all! You will LOVE Tulane!!! No city could be funner to be young in!!!

Is the letter a guarantee or a likely? Its certainly very positive news. But until it says “you are admitted” you need to keep them very happy.

I don’t recall Rice sending out “likely” letters, but then again my DS was admitted ED, so I wouldnt know for sure. Just have not heard that in all the years I’ve read these boards.

I’ll leave that for you to investigate, Jym626.

What I’m saying is CONGRATS to all that will attend Tulane (especially all those who earned the DHS), and I’m also very dissapointed that DD will be pulling her acceptance and PS award from Tulane tomorrow morning.

Good luck to all, and please enjoy New Orleans as much as I did at your age.

So are you saying your dau did or did not get a “likely” letter/call from Rice? Can you be clear? I have started a thread on the Rice forum to inquire about this, as its news to me, in the 8 years or so I’ve been following Rice admissions. This time of year used to be the EA time for Rice, but they d/c’d EA several years back.

Please check the Rice forum.

LOL-- for your post. Am looking for other input- so far there is one post.

Yes, Rice flies students out to the school to visit. Well aware of that. And there is a special minorities Visions weekend in the spring. Well aware of all of those.
