What GPA do you need to make Deans' List at your son or daughter's college? I'm interested to see how different schools determine this. At my school, it's a 3.67, but I've seen it at other schools as low as a 3.2 or 3.3.

At my school it’s 3.5.

At CMU it varies by major. For SCS it’s 3.75.

At Vanderbilt, it’s 3.5. At W & M, it’s 3.6, but I believe it used to be whatever GPA constituted the top 15 percent.

At D’s U it is 3.65, min. 15 hrs. of graded classes.

At the University of Chicago, it’s 3.25. Somewhat more than half of each class now graduates with that GPA or higher (you can tell because they award general honors at graduation to all of them), but I believe that for first- and second-year students the percentage with that GPA is less than half.

3.75 is needed for the Deans List at S1’s school.

3.7 at Denison.

at my school, it varies on the different subschools. i had a 3.93 first semester and didnt get in the dean’s list

No such thing at my kids’ college.

So we’ve got…

Bates: 3.67
CMU (SCS): 3.75
Denison: 3.7
UChicago: 3.25
Vanderbilt: 3.5
William & Mary: 3.6

It’s interesting to see how much it varies (also how much Latin Honors vary school by school).

Notre Dame is 3.7

3.75 at S’s college.

DD said is was between 3.7 and 3.8.

NC State University…3.25 if taking 15 or more credit hours
3.5 if taking 12-14 credit hours
4.0 Chancellor’s List
East Carolina University…3.0 Honor Roll
3.5 Dean’s List
4.0 President’s List

We call the lists something different at my college.

President’s List- 12 or more credit hours and have a 4.0 GPA for that quarter

Vice President’s List- 12 or more credit hours and have 3.5 or higher GPA for that quarter

Academic Achievement- less than 12 hours and have a 3.5 or higher GPA

WUSTL School of Engineering requires a 3.6 GPA for Dean’s List. Not sure what it is for Arts and Sciences.

I had to go look it up because it varies. For Spring 2009 @ Rice, minimum GPA for President’s Honor Roll was 3.893.

To be eligible for the President’s Honor Roll, students must meet the following requirements:

* Undergraduate students must meet the minimum GPA that is calculated from approximately the top 30 percent of all eligible undergraduate GPAs.
- Undergraduate students must have grades, exclusive of Pass/Fail and Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory, in a total of 12 or more semester (GPA) hours and must not have any grade of F or U.
- Students with temporary grades, such as OT and INC are not eligible until those grades have been converted. Please consult the academic calendar for term-specific temporary grade deadlines.
- Undergraduates enrolled in four-year bachelor’s degree programs are always eligible for the Honor Roll.
- Students enrolled in five-year bachelor’s/master’s programs are eligible only during their first eight semesters.

3.5 for the term and no grades lower than B-. 4.0’s are also designated on the list with an asterik.

Smith College:

Dean’s List: minimum 3.3 gpa with minumum 24 units for the academic year

First Group Scholars: top 10 percent for semester, somewhere around a 3.7

graduating class cut-off between magna cum laude and summa cum laude: varies, somewhere around 3.95.

summa cum laude: approx 1.5 percent of graduating class
magna cum laude: approx 4.0 percent of graduating class
cum laude: approx 14.5 percent of graduating class.
