Dean's Scholarship

Well, just wanted to let you guys know that I think USC has sent out the scholarship (Dean's) notification to the recipients. Check your mail -- maybe you got one too!

It says "This year's scholarship applicant pool was incredibly competitive. Although you have not been selected to receive a USC Trustee or Presidential Scholarship, you should be proud that you are among the 18 percent of our incoming freshman class receiving a merit scholarship from the university."

Dang, I was worried about getting accepted; I didn't even consider receiving scholarships!

SO GUYS, CHECK YOUR MAIL!

Wow. I find it hard to believe I wasn't among the top 18% of USC incomings. Makes me feel not to great about the rest of the application process.

so if we got a scholarship rejection letter (for trustee and presedential), could we still ge the deans?

^
I'm not sure, but perhaps?
I was already admitted (about two weeks ago) so I'm thinking you can only get this if you were admitted already.

It's just a business sized-envelope with 4-5~ sheets of paper. It's only logical that you'd get admitted first (with the packet and forms and etc.), and then receive this notice. Actually, it does say that: "Congratulations again on your recent admission to the University of Southern California."

I'm not sure though, so just cross your fingers!

yeah, maybe some of that 18 % will be notified of shcolarhsips later...

hopefully.... lol

got it! : )

congratulations!

I'm pretty sure everyone who got Trustee, Presidential, or Deans scholarship has been notified of acceptance already. Those who didn't get accepted yet have to depend on other scholarships like the alumni scholarship, Town & Gown, or need-based aid.

thanks! i'm getting excited about next year, i'll admit...
i hope to see you all there next fall!

(i know..i'm a total dork..)

lol hope to see you too...assuming cal-tech doesn't give me a better financial aid package xD

just to clarify. I just found out that if you got the scholarhsip rejection, you're still up for the deans... there's still hope! lol

Did all you Dean's scholars complete your financial aid stuff? I got a letter from them telling me to send in my parents tax return, so I faxed it last week, but apparently they haven't received it yet. Happened with my CSS too; did it in November, and they didn't look at it until late January.

no, my tax return stuff isn't in yet- although i believe everything else is. i received the same letter (regarding the tax return) over the weekend as well.

There's still some hope then. ^^

i think so. good luck!

Have they sent out all of the scholarship rejection letters?? I have not got any such letter yet..... so maybe a chance that I got one? I live in SoCal, so I think I should have received it by now.

senormatador: have you been accepted already?

No have not been accepted yet.... so do we find out if we get the scholarship when we are accepted or soon after??

thats sort of the vibe that i've been getting, but i don't know for sure.
there are also other scholarships given- a friend of mine received $4,000/year... and he still doesn't know why : ) sooo don't fret if you don't end up getting deans. but don't give up hope either!
