Dean's Select Application

my son received an e-mail regarding the dean’s select application. in the email it talks about binding Early Decision I or Early Decision II programs. can you explain what this is?

Have a look at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_decision

Hi @tjlgcollege ! Essentially, when a student applies Early Decision, they are telling us “You are my first choice, and I intend to enroll there if I’m accepted.” We will provide a financial aid package alongside an acceptance package. Of course, if it’s not financially feasible, our Financial Aid Office will do the best they can to help adjust that difference; however, if they find they’re not able to make it financially feasible for your family, we can break that bind. Beyond that, the student is essentially saying that they intend to come here in the fall if they apply Early Decision. ED also provides earlier notification of the decision to the student; it also provides the student to get in their housing information ASAP, which puts them earlier on in the consideration as housing is getting assigned.

I hope that helps!
