Dear all, I need help with SAT

Hi Sadman,
I don’t want to sound really poetic right now, but here’s a quote, that has given me encouragement, when I feel depressed. Sometimes I feel like, “Why does everybody do so good on the SAT’s and school, and why not me?” But I feel that everybody has their own unique talent. The SAT’s is just one of those hurdles in life…We’re all in the same boat. We all take the SAT’s and we all feel the same pain. Highschool is a time where we begin to discover our gifts.
I wish you an awesome rest of highschool! And don’t give up!

Everyone has a purpose in life…a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.

P.S. One really quick thing I want to tell you is that you don’t have to do everything at once. I know I’m sounding very generic right now, but start little, and accomplish small goals before moving on to big ones.

Take the ACT instead- it’s widely accepted and is better for hardworking students like you. Don’t be depressed! You can use your experiences to write a really stellar college essay.

A useful tip is to read more. It seems like CR is your weakness, so this will help. And the SAT is only one factor in the college admissions process.

Dear all,
Thank you so much for you replies. I have written an essay( already submitted) and so far has been given a mixture of opinions.
The problem is I am not patient with myself, hence my confidence level is really low. But I am not willing to give up.
One of the problems( or I don’t know what to really say about it) is that I am attracted to prestige. They give me a lot of motivation to work on. Hence I always look forward to apply to those top unis.
Secondly, I know I want to be a doctor and probably if i don’t get a chance into Cornell, will hopefully end up sumwhere studying medicine. It’s only realistic for me.
I was upset because I got hurt. I have never had to think about deep things before as I was expert to avoid issues regarding sexuality and all but during my 18th birthday it came out so well that I could hardly avoid it.
Perhaps I dnt come out first in class, but I love studies. However, when I was depressed I remember telling myself, “If God hates me so much, there is no point studying at all”.
I was completely distracted, hurt, unmotivated and I dnt what else and my priorities were changed. Even through all those crap, trying my best to avoid pills and suicide, I just battled to study, but my brain was slower…i grew impatient since then.
Things are getting better now though. i am trying a lot these days to get my mental health back.
If you do like to read my essay I would gladly send it to you and look forward to your opnions.

Okay, from what I see here, the Critical Reading section is really where you need help. I got an 800 on mine, so hopefully I can be of some assistance.

First off, stressing about it isn’t going to help. I wish I got your score on the Math portion, but crying over it isn’t going to change anything.

Now, I didn’t study for the English sections of the SAT. I studied math. In the end you’re going to have to accept that one section is going to be lower than the others. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t improve.

For me, critical reading gives away what you need to know in the title. READING. I’ve always been a reader and that obviously showed on my SAT. What you need to do is increase your vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.

How do you do that? You read. And you practice SAT vocab lists.

Honestly, it’s that simple. Do lots of higher level reading (make sure you’re understanding it!) and practice a lot of vocab.

Good luck!
