If you base your college choice on the meanness (or in this case bluntness) of posters on a msg board you should be banned from higher education and castrated to prevent the propagation of your seed. I mean really.

Scary.

:(

I think C02 is exercising some pretty good restraint by not posting in this thread.

C2002 keeps it real!

Yeah, and how much do you want to bet that when his attitude gets him into a fistfight on the street, the boys down in lockup at 1 Police Plaza are going to keep it REALER...

You are assuming that he doesn't show the restraint that you just admired in your previous sentence.

that's true. which is an assumption I base off the past, oh, four years of his posts :)

Frankly, even a meta-discussion about members on this board is better than playing "how many soldiers can dance on the head of a pin" over in that GS guy's thread. nice guy but people seem to have the knives out for him, for some reason.

I still remember when you told me that Medfield schools were not on par with Lexington, Weston, etc :(

And my girlfriend who went to Medfield HS would tell you the same thing. C02's not the only one who dishes out an extra helping of harsh reality every now and then.

But it doesn't matter because looking at your profile, you could've gone to West Bumfark High School and could've written your ticket to anywhere you wanted. Has that patent application been approved yet? :)

Haha really? I didn't know that there were any MHS alums at Columbia for the past couple of years.

And yea, the application is still in review. In the end, the claims will probably have to be narrowed down (or maybe more experimental data will be requested to support the more expansive claims). But that's to be expected, which is why I made the initial claims as broad as possible. :)

well okay fine, she went to barnard.

I like to hear the ugly, dissenting truth. Anything else is just masturbation.

Amen. Lord knows high schoolers get enough of that.

C02 is a g.

wow guys.....

Hell's a "g."?

thinking s/he means gangster.

I believe EB means "girl", as in, "female". Someone in Columbia's admissions office who follows this board believes that as well. I've never seen evidence either way, aside from C02's strong insistence on male sartorial protocol with regard to when wearing dress shirts without ties.

I have a classmate who is going to Barnard. :)

it seems that all the people who agree with his methods are either current students, or alumni. that being said, i agree with his methods -- and i am a current student. Whoever it was who mentioned schadenfreude, i think you are right to a certain extent. The reason this thread is so dichotomous is because c02 DOES provide valuable assistance, and c02's (see im avoiding pronouns) advice is usually helpful. Just the delivery isnt. But I can guarantee you that asking c02 to change c02's delivery will not affect anything. If nothing else because c02 is the only one who gets an entire thread dedicated to c02 (man this no-pronoun thing is getting tedious). And the reason this is the case is precisely because of c02's abrasiveness.

overall, i think the nature of his (**** it) posts are a positive simply because they are informative and helpful while at the same time being harsh enough to get people to actually pay attention to them. On the other hand, i think that neil degrasse tyson's sentiment may apply in this case YouTube - Beyond Belief '06 - Neil deGrasse Tyson and Richard Dawkins .

"aside from C02's strong insistence on male sartorial protocol with regard to when wearing dress shirts without ties."

sounds like a feminine trait to me :)

Come on! I love C2002 :) the Columbia alumni here are awesome! I only go on the Columbia forum because it's the only forum that doesnt make me salivate and snore all over my homework (not that it ever happens). I dont have a problem with C2002's methods of giving advice at all.
