Dear UC Davis

I wish you could start sending out decisions early the way that Merced, SB, Irvine, Riverside, Santa Cruz, etc. are. Like, at least sometime mid-March. Why you gotta make us wait till April? It's killing me to find out especially since my GPA is on the borderline side! I hope you at least make all the decisions before Picnic Day.

Thanks,
Hannah

the list of when the transfer decisions are here [Ms. Sun’s Admissions Blog for Highly Selective California Public Universities - UC Transfer Decision Time Line & Decision Portals](Error)

haha hanucol it should be the grand finally after you have heard from all your other schools. Davis is actually my first choice too but I have also applied to other UCs and Cal States and so far out of all the schools I’ve only received one response (acceptance) from my last choice which was a cal state school.

Somebody said they were told March 23rd but MyAdmissions has all along been saying transfer decisions will be sent beginning in late April. What’s up with this?

I don’t know who to believe. I wanna believe emilsinclaire because I REALLY want to know as soon as possible. So I should call up the admissions people and ask. Or the Transfer Opportunity Program adviser at my CC.

Hanucol- thanks so much for posting the page with the links to the admissions sites! I appreciate it! Bookmarked!

It seems weird because it always has been Davis, SB, and San Diego in mid to late march.

the link I posted is from the same lady that said that Davis will accept most, if not all transfer students with a 2.8 or better except for Engineering. I really hope so because I’m kinda insecure about my GPA which is 3.06, but I’m a Design major so good thing it’s not impacted over there!

The impression I am given is that a 3.0 is competitive at every UC except for UCLA and Cal.

It’s March 23rd guys. Just trust me lol. I spoke with the Davis rep about it in person, and I’ve known him for over a year now. Btw the Davis reps are so friendly!

^^^Good to know. I can’t wait.

I find myself in a bunch of moments thinking I wouldn’t be too upset if UCB and UCLA both rejected me and I ended up going to UC Davis (my third choice). I like the place a lot. Likewise people and everything.

yeah, my boyfriend lives in Davis (we met at our community college newspaper) and I love how everyone at Davis, not just the students, are so friendly. They just seem so happy to be there and really proud of their school. At first, SJSU was my 1st choice but it took me a while to realize that it wasn’t meant to be, and that I don’t care if they reject me, which they ended up doing (which worries me a little because I don’t know how selective or picky Davis will be in terms of accepting their transfer applicants). I wanna join the Aggie Pack if I get in! I was thinking of joining the cheer squad but I don’t know how to tumble, and that was a requirement according to the coach I emailed. -__-; oh well, people in the Aggie Pack get loads of free stuff and are the loudest of the bunch!

@ cooldude6: I’ve often thought the same thing. My Davis tourguide was one of the friendliest, most knowledgeable people I’ve ever met. I highly recommend that everybody should go visit that has applied (if you haven’t already). My friends that go there are so kind and relaxed, and from my experience during my visit, all of the students were friendly and happy to answer your questions. It felt right.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Berkeley and everything I’ve read/seen about it, and I would go if I got in. However, if I don’t, I’m probably going to Davis over UCLA/UCSD. It just seems like a really accepting and happy environment for the students.

@ hanucol: The Aggie Pack does seem to have many perks and I like the idea of being part of school spirit. If I go to Davis, I’ll probably join too.

@ cooldude- I’m in the exact same predicament with SB. I’m really hoping that between LA, Cal, and SB, that only one accepts me- it would make the decision so much easier, even if my pride were a bit wounded.

I think this discussion is amusing because it seems like the only reason to go to Berkeley is for its prestige. Otherwise, it is an unhappy environment in the middle of a dirty hobo city. Then you have UCD where there is a lot of school spirit (band + sports) and everyone is happy in this well integrated college town. Yet, people are willing to give that up to go to Berkeley. Then again, going to the #1 public school in the country is hard to pass up.

@ Cali Trumpet: I didn’t type or read any UCB-bashing in this thread. I don’t believe that I, or anyone else, even alluded to Berkeley’s prestige being the sole factor of our decisions. Quite frankly, I love the Bay Area (where I’ve lived my entire life) and the culture, environment, food, shows are second to none. I find the SF/Berkeley area much more pleasant than Davis’. Sure, I said that people at Davis are very friendly, but I didn’t mean to imply that those at Berkeley aren’t. I was just astounded by how friendly and open everyone was at Davis because I didn’t really expect it.

Prestige does factor into my decision btw lol, but I don’t mean to say that it is my only factor of consideration when I choose my university in a couple months.

I think in another thread on this forum you may have read the hobo-bashing, grimy, dirty, filth that was mentioned about UCB.

since when does berkeley not have spirit towards sports?

Yeah, forgive me, hehe. After reading through the UCB forum and the “Go to UCLA” post, I have subconsciously instilled this idea that UCB is not a fun place and assumed everyone else felt that way too. I know I was not big on the campus when I visited it.

@Corinnejay: I didn’t mean to imply that Berkeley does not have spirits towards its sports. All I am saying is that many of the UCs are equally, if not more spirited both in sports and the overall school.

Yeah and if you see the UC Berkeley forum you see that there is a long thread about how people are unhappy over there, here it is http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/821743-people-happy-berkeley.html

I’m sure Berkeley has a lot of school spirit towards their sports. I don’t know if they have a HUGE spirit group like Aggie Pack though. Even though the Aggie football team is not the most amazing in the nation compared to Cal or USC, there is a strong sense of school spirit and you can tell how much students absolutely adore being there. Not like Sac State where everyone is just kinda “blah” (except for my friend who the online sports editor for the newspaper there, he has TONS of school spirit and is always bagging on UCD, and always says stuff to me like,“if Davis doesn’t work out, there’s always Sac State!”)
