I am from an arabic country, and I will be transferred to UM Dearborn to study engineering bby my university, the problem is that I will not be able to transfer to another university when going to UMD, so I would like to know if it is a good university, if there is any success stories for software engineers graduated from UMD, if I can work for the biggest company (silicon valley) with an UMD degree.
Thanks a lot !!
@leecee the school doesn’t make the student, the student makes the school. No one can tell you what type of job or where you will work after graduating. Call the school and they should have statistics on where people are getting hired. This would also be true if you were going to Ann Arbor for engineering. Don’t be so enamored with Silicon Valley either. Of all places… Detroit is just starting to make its self known as a viable tech hub. I am sure you will find out more about that once in school. They are also looking to hire within so I am sure your campus has connections. I know someone from a known Boston school of engineering and she accepted a position in Detroit since it’s a young, hip, driving technology sector or at least becoming one. There are many tech sectors like this in Chicago and University of Illinois, Georgia, Boston etc etc.
Also my going to be sophomore engineering student at Ann Arbor was just in Silicon Valley for a conference. He and his group met with students from Stanford, MIT, USC to collaborate to make their technology group at Michigan better. Saying that, he met with many startup and tech companies that he will be bringing to Michigan next year. When I was looking at the companies I looked up where the main principals of the companies were from. It’s a hodge podge of schools both domestic and abroad and many I never heard of. They are all Silicon Valley companies.
Good Luck.
Thanks a lot!! I didn’t know all that. I am really grateful, thank you, you really helped me! I can’t stop thanking you!! ^:)^ ^:)^
For CS, your school doesn’t matter that much. If you’re here in a student visa, getting a work visa will be a bigger issue than your school.
Oh… I didn’t think of that … Thank youuu !! ^:)^
