Death in the dorms

Well, this is a very sad thing that happened last night. Unfortunately, these things do happen here just like they do anywhere else. A few years ago, it was the suicide in Dykstra, and now this.

oh, this is really a really sad thing to happen

:( It was posted on my door. First time something like this has happened for me.

This was one of my fears come true. I've visited friends on the third floors of Hitch/Saxon and the diagonal railings along the stairwells were a little too low for me. Maybe it's because I'm 5'10", but the railing-level was low enough that I couldn't lean back against them without risking bending backwards over the edge since they were so close to waist-level. I shouldn't have kept silent about this... :(

Could you make that a suggestion to UCLA, flopsy? Sounds terrible...:(

I just came home from visiting a friend at USC. She was very good friends with this guy and went to high school with him. She doesn't know if it's true but heard from a friend of his at UCLA that he was in that room to break up a fight and the students fighting pushed him. Students on the ground started beating on him. Anyone know anything about this?
The whole situation is very sad. I have a lot of friends at his high school.

ok please don't start these rumors. I knew they would start eventually (like they did with the Dykstra suicide), but unless you actually saw what happened, don't say anything about what 'might' have happened - doesn't help anyone. :-/

This is not the first time this year that something like this has happened. A few months ago somebody fell out a second story window in Hitch. He was lucky though and only got minor injuries.

I know what you mean and don't mean to start rumors. The post was a question to get information that will probably be in the newspapers tomorrow.

I know and don't mean to be so harsh about it, but it just sucks to hear false rumors start circulating that blow things out of proportion. Hopefully you're right, and the detectives on the case will be able to release a more concrete story soon.

i'm not trying to spread rumors, but this is apparantly really what happened. he was very intoxicated, and fell off the balcony and landed on his head. that is why he died on impact before the ambulance got here. don't bash on me for stating this but it's true.

i had no idea this happened until i read the paper my RA poster on her board. i believe i heard the ambulance yesterday too. :(

There's so many messages suddenly appearing on his Facebook...

oh THATs why there was a big group in the rieber courtyard this evening...(sorry, i just read the daily bruin article)

I know this sounds incredibly crass, but that's peanuts compared to the 5+ UCSD students who've died this year. Again, I apologize for my insensitivity.

He was a good friend of a few a good friends of mine. It is a terrible to hear. Hearing about a senseless death makes me feel bad. May he rest in peace.
