<p>Although Emory did not suffer the death penalty, GW now has. I am not sure why US NEWS decided to bring the hammer down now instead of a couple of months ago.
i had posted on another cite a few days before the sanctions saying that firing one guy for cooking the books would not stop the practice. Only getting booted from the rankings would have that effect. I am glad that US News and Mr. Morse agreed with me. Not likely he read my post but it is clear that there are enough people who are watching schools and gathering data.
There are a number of schools that are quaking in their boots right now.
my question is should anyone who has an inkling of cooked books be subject to judicial scrutiny if they do not come forward. If someone knows the books are cooked and does no share the info should they be fired?
And for those who were so student about the issue of stats misrepresentation not being a big deal it appears that the big guys at US News have made it clear to all they disagree.</p>
