As I mentioned previously, what can we do to alternate the current situation? It’s simplistic to state that something is incorrect, but how can attention and alterations be ensued from this?

Use a Communist Revolution to spread the wealth, thus eliminating the most common cause for crime: lack of money and a need for it.

^Use a Communist Revolution to destroy the wealth, therefore removing the motivation for the crime.

In many ways, I second this (whether (s)he was being serious or not).

You made a ridiculous statement about something that wasn’t even remotely hinted at. Sorry, ignorance was not the right word, but I would probably be banned if I had said what I wanted to say.

lol it would work. I don’t think it would be worth it though (yet ;| )

Really? Been to Detroit lately? It’s definitely worth it. Unfortunately :(

lol nope. I think Maine’s ruralness acts as a shield

ABC: Anything But Communism, please.

Get rid of the death penalty and let the criminals rot in jail.

Getting crime down is a much different story…

a revolution won’t happen in the US for a while. As of right now, a lot of poor people (at least where I live) are more conservative.

My concern is the taxes though. How would the public react to that? Would we really be saving money by eliminating the death penalty? (I honestly don’t know)

I personally don’t care if we save money…There are much more productive ways to do that.

For all the reasons I stated, I’ll pay the extra 5 cents to abolish it.

Well, there are poorer people who might care. I’m just wondering if we would be saving money. Do any of you know how much the injections cost?

Communism just doesn’t work. At all.

There’s a study somewhere that says lethal execution is more costly than life in prison. But it’s better to pay for something that’s right than vice versa. Right now I think we’re debating whether it’s right or not.

Eh…never could stand communism myself. It just sounds wrong, and it failed pretty miserably.

Well, I think that the majority of the public would need to agree on that. I should probably do more research on this. Thanks for the conversation!

We shouldn’t stand for (what I see as) moral/ethical failings and just pure stupidity because of money. And as people said, it sounds like it would be the same price, or saving it. I don’t think there are better ways to save money.

I admit it, I’m stubborn with this and fail to see how one could not want to abolish the death penalty, even though polls show most Americans disagree with me…

I think that if we were saving money more people would agree with the idea. I know killing people is wrong, but there is more involved in the process than that. That’s what alternates my perspective.

Life is more important than money. But I don’t think US’s money issue biggest issue really has to do with the death penalty.

I understand that, but that doesn’t seem to be the common opinion. What do you mean?
