I don’t get what you’re asking. I just mean that I don’t think costs for death penalty comes close to spending that much money…maybe it does, but that’s probably more prison, in general.

Yea, being against it isn’t really the public opinion, but I hope that will change.

Ok, it’s nice to see an alternative perspective. I’m not too familiar with all of the components surrounding the issue. I’m just basing my opinions on what I’ve learned in the past.

it is except where I live. It’s really annoying. We have like 20+ churches for 6-7 thousand people (implying conservatism). We’re also the state that passed a law to legalize gay marriage, then repealed it in referendum. The lower income people where I live are more concerned with “family values” and preserving the 2nd amendment than with improving their position in life/society

First of all, the odds of us becoming communist are slim to none (in our lifetime).
Secondly, we’ll probably become Socialist (which we are already heading towards, thankfully!) Would you flee if we became a Socialist country?

I wonder how many of them have been divorced? (Semi-off-topic but very relevant to debates I’ve been having all day with the announcement of Karl Rove’s second no-fault divorce).

I never said odds of us becoming Communist are good…Socialism is a bit better, but I guess I’d still flee if it was 100%, which I don’t think will happen…we won’t…we’re a country rooted in capitalism too much.

Anyways, abolish the death penalty. How can we get this to happen?

lol Karl Rove what a joke.
Is anyone else annoyed at Republicans like Palin using the term “Populist” to describe themselves? Haven’t they heard that WJB and James B. Weaver supported Labor Unions, Income Taxes, and other socialist stuff?

Communism is a good idea… Except that there are people involved (because many people are greedy and complete d-bags and corrupt).

On the death penalty, I’m not really sure, but only in extreme cases. I remember this one incident in china where a company called Sanlu intentionally put melamine (a poisonous substance) in milk powder to make it look like it had a higher protien content. About 300000 babies were affected by this act of corporate greed.

I’m not sure if such an atrocious act should not be punishible by death.

in that case especially they shouldn’t be executed. They probably had to meet a quota from the Chinese gov’t (which is corrupted communism) and felt pressured to put that in

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need

^I disagree with that statement.

People who are, for lack of a better word, better or more productive and “deserve” more money, property, etc. should receive it. Everything should not be equal…someone who invents a new technology should not have the same exact benefits as a bum without a job…I know this is oversimplification, I just disagree with the basic premises of communism…

Plus, communism will caused workers to have less motivation, thus leading to a whole host of problems.
