Debate vs. an extra AP Class Senior Year

Which is more impressive in terms of class rigor? Thanks for your input.

which ap class do you want to take?

european history, it’s not required for graduation.

I would take the AP class. See if you can take both. If you can’t because of scheduling conflicts, you could try taking AP European History online at CTY.

ok thanks, i’m just deciding on a final elective class. i haven’t done debate for 3 years, so it would just be a 1-year deal

^
In that case, take AP European History. Colleges want to see long term commitment to activities, not a one year stint.

ok thanks!

well let me just say, after I took debate at my school, I became much better at English and writing essays. Writing cases for debate was just like writing essays except my flaws were pointed out immediately so I had to learn to keep my holes to a minimum and to keep them as small as possible. I love debate. I would highly suggest it.

Do what you want to do, not what you think looks better.

“Do what you want to do, not what you think looks better.”

But that would mean trying to be happy in life instead of trying to get into the best college.

Ludicrous!
