Debate!!!

Hi everybody. I think it would be fun to have a debate between consevatives and liberals over the Bush administration.

Please dont make personal attacks, make this thead mature.

I am a strong liberal. Any conservatives up to my challenge? More liberals are always welcomed!

I'm liberal but I always get too crazy over this stuff so I guess I'm out. I'm not saying I'm not mature but I guess I just know when to back out before I get too emotional about things. Sorry I'm out on this one.

No problem. Please come anytime you want. You input will always be respected.

I am taking a political break after last year, I was drained. Post this thread again in March 2006.

I'm a conservative.. but, I'm a bit critical about some of the administration's policies. Agree with GWB sometimes, other times I disagree.

Can you elaborate?

Well, I'm a conservative too, but I absolutely disgust George W. Bush's policy on illegal immigration. I also do not agree with his gay marriage stance.

Other than that, I think Joev said it the best.

I actually think the immigration policy needs a little reworking. I agree with the gay marriage thing. (FYI, I'm a social/economic conservative, classical liberal. If you don't know the difference, you don't belong in a debate.)

primitivefuture

I would really be interested in knowing what issues, if any, make you want to be a liberal. What is it about liberalism that attracts you? Do you find that you are naturally inclined to disagree with conservatives? Or do you just disagree with the Bush administration?

Occasionally I visit the Young Democrats of America website and read over their platform, and I really find it hard to accept the position of a lot of their issues. And I'm not concerned, right now, about where you in particular stand. But I would like to know which of these issues resonates most forcefully with you, so as to get some idea of your reasons for being a liberal.

Yes the immigrants should not be allowed in for a brief stay or whatever Bush calls it!!! i think he is doing that only so his brother Jeb will have a chance in the next election with a large mexican vote since hes from florida.

I believe that gay people were not born gay and that they are that way from something that occurred as a childhood such as Michael Jackson. Now i know not all gays are like Jackson but i still think they have a personal reason why they CHOSE to be gay.

"I believe that gay people were not born gay and that they are that way from something that occurred as a childhood such as Michael Jackson. Now i know not all gays are like Jackson but i still think they have a personal reason why they CHOSE to be gay"

So, they choose to be gay, jsut so they can be ostracized by society right?

And in case you haven't guessed, I am a strong liberal like primitivefuture.

Actually, research studies done with identical twins, fraternal twins, and adapted siblings show that about 50% of the time homosexuality is genetically determined (ie. 50% of the time when one identical twin is gay, the other one is too. There is no such correlation between fraternal twins or adapted siblings, indicating that upbringing doesn't have quite as much bearing on it, although most experts still agree that it's caused by both heredity and environment).

Studies also show that early sexual experiences, childhood molestation (homo- or hetero-sexual), over-protective mothers, and absent father-figures DON'T cause homosexuality.

Hitler chose to kill other people. Yeah, he's good, it's just his choice. No,no, no... Defending gays and lesbians will lead us to the collapse. They decompose the society. like bacteria. like cancer. What do we do with infection? Kill it!!

I'm libertarian. Very much so. As such, I detest Bush's administration.

'Hitler chose to kill other people. Yeah, he's good, it's just his choice. No,no, no... Defending gays and lesbians will lead us to the collapse. They decompose the society. like bacteria. like cancer. What do we do with infection? Kill it!!"
