Debating between Univerisity of Florida and GTech for EE

I want to study Electrical Engineering. Now assuming I can get into both, I will have 100% tuition at UF, and I will have to pay for everything at GTech. Will it be a lot more beneficial to go to GTech and probably end up graduating in debt? I know they are more reputable, and I want to go to GTech so much more then UF, but the money issue is somewhat significant. So assuming I don't get any outside scholarships and GTech doesn't give me any money(I'm applying from out of state), would it be worth it to go there off loands and such?

probably not

If you really want to go to gtech then it is worth it. But you will not be any more considered by going there. It's not in a different league from UF like Michigan, Brown, or Stanford. It's just a little better, but if you want to be an industrial engineer, then Gtech is worth it. It's the only top national program offered at gtech. UF has no national tops.

You really also should consider quality of life. I have heard that student life at gatech isn't all that great. 72 percent male, and the campus is really open with Atlanta so many students participate in activities outside of campus. Gatech is one of the best engineering schools in the country(not including the princetons and mit's), so it depends on what you are after:

Overall quality college experience(uF)

Yes, it is. GTech is #6, Michigan is #5, Stanford is #2, and UF is #29. I don't know why you mentioned Brown, which has a weak engineering program (#38) and ranks below even UF.

The happiness and quality of life at GTech is one of the lowest in the nation. It's no big secret.

<a href="http://www.studentsreview.com%5B/url%5D">www.studentsreview.com</a></p>

I was talking about overall academics. Not specific engineering programs. If this person ends up changing his mind, a non-engineering degree from Gtech will be absolutely no better than one at UF, and he's getting bright futures to go to UF it seems which means tuition is free.

I can pretty much count on the fact that there's nothing I want to do more than be an engineer. And GTech is ranked much higher then UF in engineering as im_blue pointed out.

ok then. do gtech

Well, I really wanted to go to GTech up until 20 minutes ago. Then I went to the studentsreview website and was horribl surprise. 75% of the students seem to hate it. The other 25% only seem to like it because they are antisocial. This is extremely discouraging. I'm not making my college decision based on whether the school is a party school, however I can't imagine going to college in the situation that some of these people described.

Yeah, earlier posts mention that this school has no social life and a very small percentage of girls. It all depends on what you're going to do.

Well, I'm going to be visiting the school soon and spending the night in the dorms. I hope that will give me a better feel of how life is there. I read a website on geocities about how horrible GTech is. It is extremely discouraging.
