I joined HS debating club (30 members) in 10th, since then I really like that much, I spent one summer to take public speach, I am a captain now and will surely be president in my Sr. year. I will go a summer debating camp in an ivy college in this summer. because I like to improve my debating skills, I won 3rd place in state championship last year
My question is which ivy likes debating experience more? how about other school like CHicago, Gorgetown, MIT, etc............
please give me suggestions........
Thank you in advance!!!

My understanding is that Dartmouth has a particularly good Policy debate team. Do you do policy by chance? I'm not sure if it would help you much though...it is DARTMOUTH after all...

I'm wondering if your spoken English is better than your written English...

i have a similar question: if you are a recruited debater, or someone that's been in heavy contact with the debate coach, does this set you apart from the rest of the field, and would it even hold the same amount of pull as a recruited athlete at D has?

I highly doubt it. Debate is not a big deal on campus here. I don't know about the policy debate team, but I've been involved with Parli, Model UN and the recently formed Dartmouth Political Union, and I don't think you'd get any boost at all from being in contact with those behind these organizations -- and as far as I know none of them do any recruiting.
