<p>Thanks for the bump. I still don’t have an answer, but it’s probably too late anyways haha. I’m just assuming it’s for their convenience.</p>
<p>I don’t know why they have it, but I actually turned in my app an hour or two late (I forgot about the time difference) and still was accepted. It’s still a good goal to aim for because you really don’t want to procrastinate on your apps.</p>
<p>That date us purely a nominal thing; they set it knowing that there will be people who adhere to it and consequently submit their apps ealier, and that there will also be others who can’t give a damn and end up submitting closer to Jan 1. Pretty much all it does it let them start reading earlier, but they will always want the apps that come later, so it doesn’t make much difference.</p>
