I am from New York (applying as an out-of-stater), and I was wondering if anyone had insight on whether UT bases its decision on how early you send in your application.

My application is done, but I have not shown it to my college advisor because I finished it yesterday. So I could send it in right now (if that will make a huge difference) or I can wait until after thanksgiving break and send it in a week.

Any thoughts?

At this late date, your app is landing pretty much in the final “crush” no matter when you submit. So if you value your advisor’s input, you have time. Besides, UT’s rolling admission practice as to holistic review applicants, both in-state and OOS/Int’l, is fairly limited to the few applicants whose stats and other credentials are so outstanding they jump off the page! Most holistic review applicants will be waiting until Feb.-Mar. to hear back.

(Honors is the only caveat…if you’re applying to an honors program, you probably want your advisor’s review, but the sooner you submit the better because you missed the Oct. 15 priority deadline. And be sure to submit your regular app at least 48 hours before the Dec. 1 deadline, as the ApplyTexas software will not open up the honors app to you until it process your regular app.)

CRITICAL: Be sure your transcript and everything else that has to be mailed goes out this week! UT requires everything except Dec. test scores to be in its hands by December 1, i.e., it’s not a “postmark rule” school.
Good luck. Hook 'em!

wow! thank you so much! I would have totally been screwed over with the postmark rule…
