Did anyone take the SSAT today? Everything was about the difficulty I expected with the exception of the first math section. It was extremely hard, and I'm pretty sure that it will hamper my math score quite a bit. My practice tests for math were hovering in the 75-90 range, but the last practice test I got an estimated 95. Everyone else I talked to said the same thing, so there is hope. However, I was befuddled when I expected the 4th section (2nd math section) to be really hard, but it was much easier in comparison, and I only omitted one question and any wrong questions in that section were probably miscalculations. I took the test for 9th graders.

Also, in addition to sharing your experiences below, it would be greatly appreciated if you could answer these questions, if you can.

Will one score that is lower than the other two affect how the admissions people look at you academically? Will good math grades and recommendation help offset this (presuming a subpar math grade)? How much would a retake help, if at all?

Ok, I took it today too, I have taken it for real 5 times (I took it for practice in 7th grade. Your math probably won’t be affected. It was that hard for everyone to and yea, that second math section was a joke. Your score should be fine. If your overall is above 85 then don’t retake. Recommendations do count much more than a bad math ssat and your math grade in school will count more than math ssat.

Yeah, I thought this test was fairly easy compared to November’s. I did forget to bubble in all my answers in the last math section and had to scramble to do that before the 5th section started. All in all though, I think I did well. I guess we’ll just have to see if its a improvement over my mid 80’s score from November. I’m still worrying about errors in transferring answers on section 4 though.:(

Yes, this test was ok:) as my kid told me. Also, the best part was the reading, as it had easy texts. Math 1 was very easy. Math 2 was harder. There was an additional experimental section, it is not going to get marked.

Hmm. I thought the first and second section of math wasn’t very hard at all… Reading was very straightforward and easy. The verbal was kinda tough for me. Hope I get good scores…

I took this test as well and I did not find either of the math sections challenging, but I did find the verbal section more challenging than I expected. The reading section had texts that were less challenging than the ones I had practiced. Our scores should come very soon so best of luck to you! What schools will you be applying to? I think that the scores from the SSAT are used to see how accurate your grades are in your class. If your score on math is extremely subpar, then it will be an issue even if you have a good grade in math at school. The retake all depends on what questions are put on it. It is by sheer luck if the original SSAT is easy or hard for you, so it will be the same for the retake. You will not be any more prepared for the retake as you were for the original exam, so it comes down to what you have learned so far. Good luck and don’t worry! Chances are if you did not do so well, many other people did not do well either and the SSAT is based on percentile

Interesting. I actually thought verbal was the easiest, but I guess it’s different for everybody.

@needtoboard I’m not putting an exact list up (as it’s technically not final wow I let myself get far behind lol) but I am almost certainly applying to two of the three schools you mentioned

Also, I haven’t got the scores as of now :/

I just tried to log on and its giving the bizarre message it always does when they’re loading the scores so give it about ten more minutes…they’ll be up soon enough

@needtoboard," we are unable to process your request at this time"…usually the scores come in after 10 days, especially since SSAT hosts a webinar tomorrow night for parents on how to read the score report. No point in having a webinar without the scores. C’mon SSAT!
