December 11 SSAT

I GOT MY SCORES BACK! <3

99 overall  yay!

^ thatā€™s awesome!

What were your individual scores if you donā€™t mind me asking?

thanks scales <3
99, 96 and 96. 99 was in verbal.

wow iā€™m astonished i didnā€™t completely bomb reading!

Excellent! One less thing to worry about!!

I saw somewhere in the posts that several people have bragged about how easy the SSAT in November and December was and that they have suggested that SSAT should make it more difficulty in coming exams. Has anyone heard about that?

Well, Iā€™ve heard people say the math section that was less difficult than expected. But on the flip side, the reading section was rather killerā€¦

Oh God, I still havenā€™t received my scores, and I donā€™t want to. Iā€™m pretty sure I bombed the test, seeing how you guys got such amazing scoresā€¦

^ no, honestly, donā€™t fretā€¦ i was 1000% sure i did horrible on reading, but for some reason i didnā€™tā€¦ and i only got 4 hours of sleep the night before, crammingā€¦ heh

and tiger, i donā€™t think the test was that easy, the reading section was a bajillion times harder than on the practice tests, and the verbal was on par in terms of analogies, easier in terms of vocab. math was really easy though.

good luck to all retakers!

I work as an Executive Director for a trade organization for US-China business and have been approached by many wealthy Chinese to help their children to get into prep schools and colleges. It is amazing that the Chinese can get extremely good score in SSAT, SAT, GRE, GMAT ā€¦ However, when I took some of those students who aced in those tests for lucnh, they could not even order foods or understand the waiters due to poor English. When they worked in my office, their performance was way below average. Any comments.

^ Chinese parents test their kids way too much. There is more to life than academics.

^ i think thatā€™s a stereotype. :stuck_out_tongue: iā€™m half-chinese and i got a fee waiver by myself, studied by myself, and travelled to the test site and back by myself-- my parents didnā€™t help me with the ssat, so iā€™m hoping iā€™m an exception to that example, tigeryamā€¦ and i can definitely order my lunch by myself

My personal experience - I travel to China once a month for two weeks for a number of business - is that the primary reason is culture. They emphasize so much on school - all of them want to get into the top five; and symbolism - most if not all have LV bags which create a gap between what they learn in school and what they will in real life.

I also need to mention that I myself is Chinese and came to this country 30 years ago for college. We do not send our children to any classes for math, English, music ā€¦ except for those as part of the curricula in their schools - they all go to public schools. They all do pretty well though.

Iā€™m Chinese. I suck at standardized testing. Enough said.

*I will not think about applications until March 10th. I am completely done with everything now!
*I am absolutely hopeless. Other people are doing way better than me. I have no chance of getting in.
*I want to get in super badā€¦ Help God, help me!
*I think I have a slight chanceā€¦ maybe?
*I still have essays to doā€¦ Pondering over them.
*Ahhhh! Interviews! What am I going to do?
*I will get in this year! I have to get in this year! I believe I will get in!

What 's on your mind right now? CHOOSE ONE, or more
