December 11 SSAT

I got in the 97% percentile!! :D

Hey guys,
This is my first post!

I received my scores by mail just now. I got Verbal-98%, Math-99%, Reading-97%, and 99% overall. My parents, before I got my scores, registered for the January SSAT. They are making me retake the test because they already paid, but I really don’t want to. Should I retake the test? Also, does it affect me if I take it again and I get a lower score?

Dude, you’re scores are great, don’t take the test again, I think your parents can get their money back

Why would you take it again? I don’t see any value to taking it again. I don’t believe your parents can get their money back. If you don’t take the test again, it will free up another seat at your testing center for someone else.

I agree with Periwinkle - leave well enough alone!

Your parents will not be able to get their money back, but the risk of taking it and having something go wrong (you don’t feel well that day or whatever) really argues against taking it again “just 'cause it’s paid for.”

Your parents should celebrate your high scores and move on!

BTW, welcome to CC!!!

Very upset :frowning: At first I was very happy because I got an 800. But then I heard my math score and it was like the 800 didn’t even exist.

Scores were received over the phone while on vacation (longish story) so I can’t quite remember a couple.

Verbal: 800 99th
Reading: 740-something 96th
Math: 695 48th
Overall: Something like 2238 92nd

How did this happen??? I thought I did well! I don’t understand!!!
Being reasonably good at math is a part of my identity… I don’t know what to do!!! Now I look incredibly lopsided and I can’t afford a retake :frowning:
I should just give up now… No way I’ll get into any of the schools I was applying to :(

If you think you did well in Math, you can request a manual scoring for I think $60 or you can sign up today for the Jan 8th test and may be get a tutor. I think ifax108 got a tutor and improved his score. But you have only 2 weeks left, if you are already good at math and study/practice hard next couple of weeks, you can make it.

I can’t afford a retake :(

Because of your schedule?

Because the test costs so much and my parents probably wouldn’t have paid for it the first time if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. And come to think of it I might have a gymnastics meet the same date as the next test… gah

Manual scoring though, I am tempted to give up my christmas money for.

SSAT said they rarely find mistakes during the manual scoring which indicates that the machine scoring is accurate most of the time. Unless you are very confident about your math performance, you may want to use your Christmas money for retaking it in Jan than on manual scoring.

I usually don’t get more than $40 in christmas money. :frowning: My parents might pay $20 for manual scoring, but not $70 for another test :frowning: Plus I won’t even find out if I get any money this year until tomorrow-- and registration closes today… Thanks for trying to help though

Has anyone here found any mistakes when they paid for manual scoring?

did bad :frowning: 85% overall, im retaking it on jan 8th

85% Overall is fine. Seriously.

As long as you didn’t bomb any sections like I did, 85% is fine

Gosh I still didn’t get my scores back… Anybody in the same situation here?
