December 11 SSAT

@sallyshelly

im applying from china, so my chances are very low =(

i think you have a good chance for those schools. your ssat is really good. your grades are good. and if you are committed in extra curriculars, they will like you. write some good essays/ do well on interviews to make yourself stand out.

ATTENTION EVERYBODY(haha thanks for the attention), but there would be two questions that I would like to ask, thank you very much. :)

1) What is an average BS student like? I know, I know, that you cannot generalize students at BS, but I just want to know, are all of them real geniuses? Are they all incredible with math and science? Do they read books just by scanning them? Sorry, I know this may be a little exaggerating, but I just want you to know what I am asking for.
2) Does anyone here know what books are read at BS? What are they?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Oh and BTW, is anyone here not done with their applications? Essays? Recommendations? I know I’m not, and I still have many interviews to go…

@vivsters
but u got like 97%! didnt u? urs is great too :slight_smile:
im applying for deerfield, too!
actually, im goin for about 10 schools…
exeter, andover, hotchkiss, middlesex, St. George’s, St. Mark’s, NMH, Blair, Taft, lawrenceville, and Choate. oh, and deerfield
cuz i heard there r very low chances for internationals, especially for asians…
im writing exeter essay right now… haha…
did anybody write andover’s? donno what to write!!!

@SSATfreak
wait… are there two? Isnt there only one?: Each student at Deerfield has an academic advisor who guides the student’s academic choices and serves as the student’s personal
counselor. Please write an essay on what you think would be valuable for your advisor to know about you. Include your goals,hopes and expectations, as well as the influences that have most shaped your life.
↑Isn’t this the one?
Are there more?

@sallyshelly

wow, you’re applying to a lot of schools… must be hard work.

just try to make yourself stand out i guess.

@sallyshelly- There’s two more, but I wouldn’t consider them as essays. Just a short answer essay. There’s one on how you learned about Deerfield, and the other one is about the best advice anybody has ever gave you. Wow that’s a lot of schools you’re applying to… How many essays did you write? What’s the topic for Andover?

@ SSATfreak
I’ve done 4… gosh…
For andover, I’m probably gonna do this Q:
F. Imagine you are asked to do a one-year research project in either your history/social science or science class. What kind of research project would you design and what would you hope to learn?

For those of who’ve finished exeter’s, what does it mean?: Write on a topic of importance to you.

topic of importance?
dont get it… HELP!

8th grade female applying to Andover and Lawrenceville
Verbal= 743 (92%)
Math= 764 (93%)
Reading=728 (95%)
Total= 2235 (96%)
I took the December SSAT. After the test, I felt horrible, but I am very satisfied with my results. I am surprised that my lowest score was in the reading section, yet I got the highest percentile in reading. I thought I did better in the math though. CHANCE ME please :slight_smile:

:( ssat scores, where art thou?!

If I don’t get them by tomorrow I’m going to phone them; if they won’t tell me my scores I will file a damn lawsuit.

i second that notion ^^^

or was it motion… hmm

^^ Third that :D

^Same here

“12/29/10: Scores released to families (on or before)”
so technically, if it’s released today, it means MAILED today?? so i could be waiting for like, another week…

:|

Kinda weird cuz I got mine like 6 days before that date

WOW I’m taking it Jan. 8th

@ scales:

i’m international (well, Canada) though, that probably has something to do with it. maybe if i lived in NE US, i’d have gotten it already…

If you check the mail today and don’t see your scores, call them up and ask if they can report your scores over the phone. The worst case is that they say they can’t tell you at this moment. There’s a possibility that they could tell you!

"Can I get my scores online or over the phone?
No. Scores are released to students by mail, FedEx or e-mail only. "

ssat faq
:(

i emailed them to just send it over email cause obviously it won’t be back before jan 3rd.
i phoned them and they were out of office
