December 1st Deadline

I'm a little confused about the deadline. I sent my transcripts and other forms to be mailed off by my school last Friday. Will UT accept my stuff as long as it was postmarked before the December 1st deadline like most of the other schools do? I read somewhere that it has to be in the admissions officers hands on december 1st or its too late, but if you factror in the unpredictability and slow speed of mail along with the sheer amount of applications being sent in,then it seems like it would be impossible for UT to receive everyones HS forms by december 1st. I'm think as long as it was postmarked by Dec. 1st then everything should be fine, but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It says that EVERYTHING must arrive and be scanned in before december 1st. I myself felt that it is extreme considering most college would accept materials if it was postmarked on time…

Its even worse when its Thanksgiving holiday and everyone is on vacation. lol, i’m in the same boat as you. :(

Hmmm that really doesn’t make any sense at all. I’ve already payed my application fee and wrote all my essays and stuff. All I need is my transcripts to be mailed off. If it is true about UT needing everything on Dec 1st and not postmarked, then the least they could have done was post a date on their website that stated when your stuff has to be sent off by in order for them to receive it “on time.”

It is definitely a receipt deadline not a postmark deadline. But receipt does not mean it has to be processed in the office by December 1st; it only means it must be physically in the office on December 1st.

I just called. They have to receive EVERYTHING by December 1 or they won’t consider you for admission at all. Guess that’s it for me; my SAT scores and transcript probably won’t reach in time. Oh well… if they’re gonna make it this hard for me to apply then they can keep their $60 and I’ll go elsewhere with my ~$200,000.

You can always call them up and say my stuff got there on time… My friend did this and they accepted his application

They have to receive the documents by dec 1st, not processed by dec 1st. if you sent it in on Friday they should have received it by Monday or Tuesday. I’m in the same boat as you, I just called them and they said that they probably received it but it will take some time for them to process it, but it won’t count agains you. You will be considered for admission so long as they have all req. docs

Yes, I think some people are misunderstanding this. It must arrive by December 1st. That does not mean it has to be processed by December 1st.

Mail doesn’t take that long. You could mail it normally Friday and it would almost be guaranteed to be on time.

Also, if you live in Texas (or in NYC), you might consider their Application Round Ups. Beginning next week, UT is going to have representatives in different part of Texas collect application items. If you get your transcript, etc. to one of their locations by Dec. 1st, then it is considered on time.

Otherwise, just get a first class stamp. They’re 44 cents, and they usually arrive in 3 days (not counting holidays/Sundays).

If my school doesn’t send it out till this Monday…would I be too hopeful in wishing that everything would reach by Dec. 1st?

They suggested a postmarked date of Nov 15.
