December 2007 MATH level 2

I'm in ap calc, and derivatives help a bit. I used them on the ball question! but overall, it didn't help. I mean, luckily we were doing log, ln, e, and inverses this week in calc, so that was great review for this test. and yeah - I got .500 art_star

for the slope problem I think the question was find the "SUM" of the slopes. If that was the case it should be 1 - 1 + -1/7 which would be -1/7 right??

it was product...the question asked you to multiply the slopes of the three lines together.

also, does anyone think that there's ANY reasonable chance that the curve will be something more generous than 43 raw for 800?

hmm in that case im wrong :

and what did you guys get for the median for the stem and leaf plot? 36.5?

^ Yeah, that's what it was. I just took my fingers and moved them along the leaves until I came to the middle XD

Haha me too.. I'd never done stem and leaf plots before so I stared at it for like 5 minutes before I actually understood how it worked. The one with the graph of log 10 where you had to find the area of the trapezoid was 135 right? All I did was (1+2)(100-10).5 = 135 :

I hate this thread. God how many did i get wrong lol

lol me too, kevin. this is sooooo depressing. and this is my second time too! colleges are gonna think im absolutely retarded.

Yep, it was 135 =) Areas with graphs are efficient and easy.
And I know exactly how you feel kevin.. although I'm feeling more like a failure over in the Physics thread than this one..
And same here, art_star. I hope they don't think I've decided to slack off or that I suddenly stopped caring or that I'm becoming more stupid XD

yeah, i'm trying to think of more questions...do you guys remember a question that had something to do with absolute values and inequalities? it was like, which answer fulfills this equation? i have no idea what i put for that one..the answer choices were all something like -3<x<3, in that type of format.

I remember that one, but I don't remember which answer choice I picked. I knew my answer was right though..

What was the one where x^2 + 9x + 7 = 0 had roots/zeroes of s and t, so what is the equation with roots (s+1) and (t+1)? Or something like that? I think I made a guess after eliminating three of the answers but it was a random 50/50 guess due to only having 4 minutes left in the test @_@

yeah i have a feeling i put the right answer too, but lately my gut "feelings" have failed me so =/

YEAHHH literally at the last second i had to guess between two! i put something with x^2+9x...i just dont remember the second part lol. but earlier in the thread someone said it was x^2+9x+10.

Wow, same here o_o I put something with x^2+9x+c but I don't remember what number was in the c slot.

Augh. I wish I had better memory.

wow i like dont remmeber any of these questions lol. I hope myself like 15 hours ago did these right...

Yeah Im pretty sure the x^2 +9x + c answer was right and there was only one option with 9 as the coefficient of x.

Also what was the answer for the one that said find the value of k for which the following eqn has no vertical asymptotes: (2x+k)/(x+3)

^^ i think that was k=6 wasnt it?
or somethin like that

It was 6.
Plugging in 6 into that function gives you a horizontal line.

ah yes i got that too :D

Yeah and there was that one question with the line in space and it asked which of the following represents all the points 2 units away from the line.. It was a cylinder with radius 2 right?
