I too still think its pragmatism
"life of law is not logic, but comes from experience"

Transcedentalism= A literary and philosophical movement, associated with Ralph Waldo Emerson and Margaret Fuller, asserting the existence of an ideal spiritual reality that transcends the empirical and scientific and is knowable through intuition.
The quote said basically the opposite of that- that experience is above...

The question is about the QUOTE not who said it. The quote was talking about pragmatism, not transcedentalism.

I agree with itsaclassic...definitely pragmatism

I think pragmatism was just a trick answer
do u guys remember reading about a movement or trend called pragmatism?
I don't think I've ever seen anything about pragmatism...

I still think the labor union was
"govt support"
a few successful strikes means literally "a few" out of many
all the presidents in the gilded age were pro business
why would they support unions?
the first president to do so was TR

Does anyone remember more answer choices for Revere?
was it a except question?

-increase of consumer goods
-contempt for working class

Alright, I'm starting to think that the Knights of Labor question was probably the government support thing if that indeed was an answer choice.

As far as whether that one question is transcendentalism or pragmatism
I in fact do remember reading about a philosophical movement called "pragmatism." It was also in my prep book I used to study (Kaplan). I think transcendentalism was actually the trick answer because people are very familiar with that and saw a philosophical looking quote and went "oh that must be transcendentalism" when in fact the quote had little to do with transcendentalism.

Here are some definitions, tell me what you think:

Transcendentalism: "Any philosophy based upon the doctrine that the principles of reality are to be discovered by the study of the processes of thought, or a philosophy emphasizing the intuitive and spiritual above the empirical: in the U.S., associated with Emerson."

Pragmatism: "A philosophical movement or system having various forms, but generally stressing practical consequences as constituting the essential criterion in determining meaning, truth, or value."

i put transcendentailism b/c i had never heard of the other one. lol.
and I stand by my answer about the strikes for the Knights of LAbor question

so if most of these answers are right, im thinking worst case scenerio I got 15 wrong, omit 0. what score would that be?

Oh so I checked my Kaplan book and Pragmatism is the theory that truth emerges from experience and experiment
yeah so I have no choice to agree with u guys that its pragmatism lol
but I don't really care cuz I omitted the question heehee

afro_ninj4,
I bought the Official book and the curve for 800 was 79 or 80.
Since everyone's saying that this one was really hard hopefully the curve's sth like 78? (please???!!!!)
Right:90-15=75
Wrong: 15*.25

75-4=71
I don't have the book right now but since I remember that 72=770(when the curve was set at 79) you would get at least a 760

75 would be a 'hard curve', 78 is typical

WOW after going over all the answers again i think i missed around 30 instead of 15...that brings me down to like a 640. yikes!

here are the ones i questioned. are you guys sure they were right?

Law of logic…quote

I would really like to get these questions cleared up. Im sure im not the only one. Thanks

the enlightenment one is definitely natural rights and i agree with you that knights of labor was a few unsuccessful strikes

however roosevelt definitely only busted a few trusts, not all, we learned that specifically in my class

Hey, guys, when all of you are done arguing over minutia,
