DECEMBER 2008 SAT Subject Test: Math Level 1

what do you guys think about the curve for this test... good or bad

Intersect the plane and the cyllinder question was a point. You can't get a point from that.

Pretty sure the y=x one was 0.

No idea on the matrix and i forgot how to do a matrix on my calculator. lmao

I omitted 1 and missed 1 (so far). What's the normal curve for Math 1? -1= 800?

no minues 1 equals 780.. squadus which one did u get wrong?

I know I missed the elevation one where they were looking at the hot air balloon. My friend explained it to me. Simple error hahaaa

For #50 I just estimated by hand (i had no idea what to do) since the tests are to scale and the part where the 2 circles crossed seemed a bit smaller than half the r. So I picked 2sqr2 :]

Also...I'm not that sure on the Triangle one with a side of 75 and like 10 triangles inside the triangle. i had no idea what it was asking. =D

ohh.. what was hot air ballon question/answer?? i dont remember that..

....Uh...I def. didn't have the circles or the hot air balloon ones

ohhh what was the hot air ballon answer

They were number 50 and like 20ish. You don't remember #50 with the two circles inside the square asking for the length of side x?

@ squadus:

i'm pretty sure that a point wasn't the answer; the cylinder can touch the plane at one of the points on a flat circle side. I don't know how to describe it better than that, sorry!

iheartivy : what would be correct then..

and yeah what was the one with the two overlapping squares with the lengths of one and the diameters x units apart that had me stumped for a while

For the cylinder one I said it couldn't produce a triangle; all of the others made sense, I think they were a point, a line, a circle and a rectangle. I couldn't get the overlapping squares either, but overall I thought this test was much harder than the practice tests I've taken...possibly a curve?

Ooooh!
Gotcha, I remember the hot air balloon one too.

I bsed on the one with the hot air balloon & overlapping squares ..I think I put 1-x..don't remember though.

For the cylinder one I think segment was a choice..& I'm not sure what I put.

I don't remember any of the ones I guessed on. How sad.

i put 1-x for that one too...
what about numbers 49 and 50.. dont remember the questions though but i had trouble with them, anyone remember?

Oh, wasn't 49 that long polynomial asking where it was decreasing?

Wasn't it like less than -1.3 and greater than 2.6 or something like that or maybe I am thinking about Math II since I took both.

I had no idea on 49/50 darn it... Omitted 3-4 hopefully I didn't made any silly mistakes

good luck everyone!

what questions did everyone struggle on?

49 was, I believe, about a domain of f(x) = something under a sqrt.

49 was less than -1.3 and greater than 2.6 100% sure
