that should be as a mean not as a means

i remember the last section had a part like
“with the effective marketing of films/something, something increased”
“given the effective marketing for films blah blah”
which one did u guys put?

Why is “as a means of” wrong?

[Project MUSE - Asian Perspectives - Historic Maps and Archaeology as a Means of Understanding Late Precolonial Settlement in the Banda Islands, Indonesia](http://muse.jhu.edu/login?uri=/journals/asian_perspectives/v041/41.1lape.pdf)

The title of that uses it

first one u got right the second one u got wrong it should be hung their heads not hung their head

From thesaurus.com:
Means is defined as singular.

a alot of ppl r saying that they didnt like the prompt. out of all my essays on sats/acts, this was one of my favorites. guess it was just me?

@monstor

If I remember it correctly, it was used for a singular noun “as a means of [gerund]”

Doesnt that make it NE

^ Just you. I hated the prompt beacuse the only book I could think of that really fit the prompt was The Great Gatsby. I used a “personal experience” part as well; I don’t think my dignity has ever been as compromised…

I agree that the “means” one was NE.

What was December’s writing prompt?
I took the November test & really liked the essay topic albeit it was a bit obscure

“Is it easier nowadays to make friendships?” or something like that was the prompt.

Was the Lafayette one NE? And was number 11 on the apprently non-experimental section the one with the colon and “it had” (the one about changing schools)?

What did u guys get for the very last question on the test?

Did u put D?

hmmm, that’s interesting. It almost seems as if you should use a personal example for that

^ yeah it was D, i distinctly recall this one.

oh, well i like grammar questions more compared to the ones that require u to revise the sentences and also the ones with the different word choices

So were there 3 NE’s?

For the friendship essay, I provided a literature example of Tuesdays with Morrie saying that true friendship is achieved only by being vulnerable to one another and being genuinely transparent, all of which are not possible when hidden behind a computer screen. For personal example I said how everyone at my school has over 500 friends on facebook but barely know any of them. For current events I talked about how a girl thought she had made friends online but ended up killing herself when she found out she was being teased and bullied.

^I’ve heard the story about that girl. some myspace thing.
sounds like you wrote a good essay

hmmm now im less sure
i dont actually see where it says its defined as a singular but

a mean kind of implies that there are other means involved
a means, well that just sounds wrong

i still maintain that it was wrong

and yea, i rmemeber the effective marketing one and the advent of something

basically i didnt know what form of efficieny to use but

only one of the choices (C) was directly preceding/describing the subject(rock stars)

My essay sucked. Anyway, which was the experimental section? Was it right after the essay? Do all of the people who had writing as experimental have the same format (as in their second section was the same [sentence correction, id, fix essay blah blah] as everyone else who had experimental writing as well)?
