Just because no one's made a thread. haha. What did you all think?

Thanks kh267.
It was just as I expected! Some were really easy and other really hard.

Does anyone know the answer to world population question?

The easiest question was to say which are tho South American countries which official language is not Spanish :)

Did anyone remember the Jainism one?

Janinism encourages asceticism, so anything relating to fasting and the like would be it.

I thought the test was…alright. No idea how I did. Seemed fair, though.

^
While I agree that Jainism encourages asceticism, isn’t it alsosaying that everything has soul? Based on Wikipedia, it says “Jainism regards every living soul as potentially divine”

So, wasn’t answer like everything has soul or is important? I don’t remember the exact phrase, though… what were the options?

I omitted 12… and probably got some wrong… what do you think my score would be like?

Yeah… I though all in all, it wasn’t bad. However, there were some tricky ones…I omitted 6 I think, and had to guess around 10 problems or so (came down to 2 choices). But then again, it’s been 6 months since AP World, lol so maybe I’m one of the few who had difficulties.

The Jainism one was one of the ones I omitted. There were a few others I wanted to discuss, but I unfortunately don’t remember them. ]:

What about the ‘‘Janissaries’’ ?I put Ottoman Empery. As long as I am concerned, janissaries are children that were stolen from christian families in order to serve the Ottoman Army.I even watched a movie related to this, about such child that forgot his truly identity and later, as an ottoman soldier, he had to kill his father.

^That’s correct. Janissaries are the Christians the Ottomans forced into the military as part of religious persecution. …I think. Lol. That is, if my memory isn’t failing me. But I’m certain it was Ottoman Empire.

Btw, did anyone else get a row of B’s or C’s (or maybe some other letter) at the beginning? Like, from #2-6 or something?

Kh267, I got a row of B and c’s. For six questions I had like a row of b’s straight down. For those questions i had to relook at them 2 or 3 times to make sure.

Does anyone know the muslim term question?

What about the question about the treaty of nanjing? D:
I got so confused between “Leasing Hongkong for 99 years” and “opened 5 ports in the east”
cuz… I thought both worked… D:…
moreover, the wikipedia says
"The treaty abolished the monopoly of the Thirteen Factories on foreign trade (Article V) in Canton and instead five ports were opened for trade, Canton (Shameen Island until 1949), Amoy (Xiamen until 1930), Foochow (Fuzhou), Ningpo (Ningbo) and Shanghai (until 1949), where Britons were to be allowed to trade with anyone they wished. "

And what was the first question? D:
it was about why mesoamerica…didn’t use wheeled something??

And what was the answer about
Aung San Suu Kyi???

I had a feeling that i did …not that… good D:
I skipped 10 questions T_T

@ sg9018: I know, omg. I got a row of B’s (either 5 or 6 of them), and I was just staring at it, thinking “this CAN’T be right.” The Islamic term question was about sharia, I think. Which I think was about laws…

@apakabar: I guessed it was the opening of the 5 ports to foreign trade. Because Hong Kong was under British rule until 1997 (more than 99 years since 1830 (or whatever year the treaty was)).

Did anyone know the answer to the question about why the West resented Japan in the late 1900s? (one of the last questions)

to kh267

I agree with you on the ports to foreign trade. I remembered Hong Kong 1997, so the 5 ports was the only logical answer.

I also got a row of 5 b’s or so. I think I even may have gotten 5 a’s in the first 10 questions, or around there.

The West resented Japan question, I narrowed down to either because the Japanese were successful with the Westernized reforms that they borrowed, or because of them not opening their markets to the Europeans. I guessed the latter, because I had doubts about the west hating the Japanese for westernization. I also thought about how many Fords and GMs there were really were in Japan in the 80s and 90s, so a lack of U.S./European imports made the most sense to me.

Larmonely, I narrowed it down to those two too, however I picked the former. I just guessed that they resented Japan’s success…so I guess success with Western reforms.

^
That’s what I put too…

What was the answer for the last question (#95)? It was a cartoon picture, in which Deng Xiaoping was pointing/breaking the Great Wall… And the question was like… The Tiananmen Square and blah blah blah…
What did you guys get?

It seems like everybody did well… I feel like I’m the only one who omitted more than 10 (omitted 12)…

what was the answer for the muhammad going to mecca to medina?[or the opposite]
was it related to the islam calendar?

OH and what was the answer for the map question?
I remember that… it was asking about the East Africa trading with other region.
I think I put the west asia [middle east]

Oh and Mali was significant due to gold… right?
and many african kingdoms were in the west africa… am i right??

Another questions…

What was the difference btw the Ottoman Empire and the Safavid Empire?
I put that Ottoman declined after 1600s, while Safavid grew stronger

And, do you guys remember Confucius quote problem?
I put leader has to obey the subjects the same way… I wasn’t sure

Also, the people of the book? I put only Muslims… But, after I googled it, I don’t think this was the right answer

Oh, and which country defeated Mongol?
the options were like Japan, Korea, Russia, Persia, I don’t remember the last country

@ apakabar:
Yes, Medina to Mecca problem had to do with Islamic calender…

I put that East Africa trades with Arab countries

There were two map questions. Which one are you talking about? African map?
Then, I think it’s West Africa. I think it was numbered 3 or something…
