In the Egypt/Greece one, the fact that it was from Greece wasn’t explicitly stated (or at least, I don’t think it was). It was just cited as from the Hellenistic period. But, it wasn’t actually about biases…it just was about how Egypt’s practices (gender roles) were a bit different from the rest of the world or what was common. It don’t recall there being anything biased about it, therefore I didn’t mark “gender biases.”

for *The role of glasnost and perestroika - collapse of Soviet Union, I think the answer was the choice that related to uncovering the weakness and problems of Russian economy.

^yeah kh. i think the answer was social practices differ on region

I concur with the answers to both the Greek/Egyptian and Soviet questions above…the source for the Egypt one did state it was written by Herodotus or someone though.

Herodotus was a famous greek writer. I think it was implied that because of his noting of the “peculiarity” of Egyptian gender roles, he implied that it was different in Greek.

You don’t notice something is different unless it is different from what you’re used to.

(I put the answer that said something like Greek women ocassionally were involved in religion, women usually …etc.)

@larmonely: Yeah, that passage had 2 questions that followed. I put that one for one of them. The other one I’m pretty sure was cross comparison instead of gender biases.

I put cross comparison as well!

I also agree with Gorbachev exposing dissatisfaction with the Communist system.
I don’t remember a question on the LoN

^Haha, ok. Maybe I was just thinking about a practice test, then. I sorta crammed the entire night before, so I was probably mistaking one of those practice questions with ones on the actual test.

Yes. There was a LoN question on the practice tests by collegeboard. I think the question was what the LoN’s first test was, and the answer was Japan’s invasion of Manchuria

Ok, now I’m gonna bring up a question we already discussed since it’s not on our list of questions…what are everyone’s opinions on the question regarding European resentment of the Japanese in the 1980s and 1990s? Is it that they wouldn’t open up their markets or that they were successful with the western reforms they borrowed? I put the latter…because I know for a fact that Japan’s economy flourished during that time, therefore the West probably feared and, hence, resented Japan. And their success was due to the fact that they borrowed the West’s practices.

^idt we discussed it. its the “not opening up markets”

yea b/c west actually helped japan to modernize after ww2
we still need about 20-25 more questions!

^gah. uhm there were specific questions on Books we might have missed. Boers war? Song empire creations? Portugal wanted to explore to compete with Spain=answer to why Portugal wanted to explore.

who was the major god of the Incas? the sun god?

portugal wanted to expand its exploration because of the constriction of the land routes through the Ottoman empire, or that’s what I put

I said that Spain discovered some area (don’t remember what…). I don’t think the question was why the wanted to expand, it was like what event/circumstances/whatever led them to want to expand.

I put spain had more colonies than GB in the 1600s because if you think about the size of the new world, spain owned like the vast vast majority of North America, and probably good portions of S.A. as well.

In fact, I’m like 99% sure it is spain.

woot so did I.

Wait…omg, I don’t remember that colonies question! Was the question literally “which country had the most colonies by 1600”…? Because if it was, I’m pretty sure I would put Spain. But I don’t remember it…ugh!
