December 2010 ACT Scores

Magic perhaps. I would’ve assumed that states that highly administer the ACT get first priority. My state (North Carolina) only has like 15% of its grads taking the test. My essay came up today… lol.

I mean you can have my score if you want, it’s pretty crappy.

Lol, amen.

i took the ACT 3 times and got the same score on reading each time. always 17 in one subsection and 18 in the other. this time i got the same distribution but got a 34 instead of 35. really frustrating cuz it made the difference between a 31 and the 32 which i needed. anyone know why i didn’t get a 35?

^because you missed two questions I suppose? Subsections don’t necessarily reflect scores, so it sounds like there’s a -2 = 17 subsection. (Because I believe that people have gotten -1=35.)

@SweetyBunny: I wish I could make a tutorial, but I really don’t have much to say. Practice tests and experience in the test room are key though. I think that if I hadn’t started testing when I was 12 (I’m 15 now.), I wouldn’t have scored as high.

You all are amazing to remember the questions off the test. All I can remember is almost answering “male frog with unfertilized eggs” on the science section. Haha

28 Composite

English - 28
Math -31
Reading - 27
Science - 27

I’m very disappointed… 29 was my goal. I got a 28.25. Was my firs attempt… I thought I did very well. I’m worried that I won’t feel that same feeling when I retake it. Maybe I should just read more books. I also felt like I got like a 34 on math section, especially since I only saw 1 incorrect answer in the discussions…

^soccernerd, I put that answer too and realized how dumb it was afterward… I didn’t even read the rest of the answers :/

Explain to me why an 18 and 18 is a 35 in English.

Can someone confirm the reading question in which the author gets the parka first or dances for the president?

Can someone also confirm the one with English that had the Medal of Honor statement and whether or not it should be included?

It would be much appreciated if someone can answer these questions.

KALee, subsections do not necessarily reflect your section score. Just because you got an 18 on both subsections does not mean that you scored perfectly. There was a -1=18 curve on one of those subsections.

So, you should feel like you were cheated and the world conspired against you so now you need to retake it and kick some ass; that’s how I felt anyway.

Cjgone, I have to retake it in April. I live in illinois.

Go retake it and slap up some nerds, brah.

What is the disadvantage of taking a non-writing portion if I already took one with a writing portion? Is there any?

Some schools won’t accept your score if you did not take the writing test in the sitting.

“Can someone also confirm the one with English that had the Medal of Honor statement and whether or not it should be included?”

English was my only 36. It was not to be included. I can’t remember what I put as to why… perhaps because it was anti-climatic (re-phrased, though)?

^Yay, got that one as well.

I got my 34 back in June (wow, feels like that was so long ago…). Good luck and congrats to everyone!

i wonder why my scores aren’t out yet…

oh just kidding. I just read page 22.

Got a 29 Composite… first try. sigh

looks like I’ll be taking the ACT’s again since I got a 1920 on my SAT’s. Anyone get similar scores and raised their score to a 34 their second try?
