December 2010 ACT Scores

AHHH, how are scores still not up?!?!

@tcg1993: Did they tell you what we should put on the common app then (if scores won’t be out until the 3rd)?

Yup, called them, same crap was given to me also:

“Well…We cannot tell you when your scores will be ready, we are still grading a majority of tests at this time until the February 4th final release date. Check back every Wednesday and Friday except this Friday because it’s a holiday. We send you an email when your scores are ready so no need to keep checking repeatedly.”

“Well what if I have December test deadlines for colleges like UC’s and USC?”

“I’m sorry I don’t know when your scores will come out so I can’t resolve that issue for you”

Needless to say I really wanted to punch her in the face. How much more ridiculous can this get??

So based on that conversation there are A LOT (majority is the word she used over the phone) of people who still do not have scores and will not have them until February.

Maybe if everyone calls and you can get your friends and parents to call and everyone calls we can get them to get off their asses and actually grade them by next week at best. Not the day before February 4th.

They told me to just put my current scores. Just use your current scores on the Common App and then send in your new scores when you get them (beginning Jan. 3). If it was someones first time taking the ACT, I assume they would just need to put “NYA” or something of that nature.

Gah. Is it fine to send scores after the CommonApp deadline?

^^ See, this is what I’m worried about because my ACT score right now is basically equivalent to my SAT, so I don’t know which one to send. I was going to see what I got in December so I could figure that out this week and send my scores and app at the same time. Now…I’m not sure what to do =.=

AHHH, we should sign an online petition or something lol

Yes, it’s fine. Scores will begin to be posted online beginning Jan 3rd. Scores are to be sent whenever available. As long as the Common App and Supplements are in by the deadline, teacher recommendations and scores can be sent at a later date (as most colleges will be on break until 12/3 anyway)

Btw, do you guys know if the 1/1 deadline means its due by 11:59 pm on 1/1 (before it becomes 1/2) or 11:59 on 12/31 (before it becomes 1/1)?? Maybe there’s some hope that it’ll come out on Friday.

It means 12 AM on the 1st. So basically the last second before it becomes 1/2. And no it will not be available by this friday because the online teller told me so.

I think I am going to start a “Call and Complain to ACT” thread here because if we can get as many people as we can to call and complain to ACT that they are playing with our freaking futures here maybe they’ll get off their sorry asses and grade them by next wednesday, the next possible release date.

I agree. This is absolutely crazy…

yes please do that

I don’t see how calling and complaining will help. Come on, the guys at ACT need a break as much as we do. They are taking a break for the new year; you’ll have your scores soon enough. Most colleges also are on break until the 3rd, so they understand that scores might arrive a tad bit late (and it’s OK). They aren’t “playing with our futures;” they are just taking a break from work for the new year (which we all deserve). One of my teachers has yet to complete my recommendation form, but that’s alright. As long as you get your Common App and supplements in by the deadline, recs and scores can come in later. Just finish your apps, relax, and enjoy the new year. :)

So even though they usually on post scores on Wednesdays and Fridays, they will post scores on Monday, 1/3?

Yes. When I contacted them, they said they will be on break until 1/3. They said that they will begin posting scores as soon as they get back from break (1/3).

Lazy b*stards

Hey, everyone deserves a break. Imagine not having a Christmas break. Imagine having school all December and all through the new year. Not fun. Even college admission committees and officers are taking a break until 1/3 for the new year.

Correction: Everyone deserves a break except people who grade the ACT.

I can assure you that if I was the one responsible for grading my own test, I would forget about my break and do it regardless of how long it would take. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I have entrusted my future in the hands of others, who by tradition should have released my scores several days ago.

Honestly, it seems like they didn’t even score any for todays release! Everyone who didn’t get their scores, still doesn’t have their scores. . Whatever, I’m not going to freak out that much because my top choice schools already informed me they will accept the December scores regardless of being late. I’m just *ed because I REALLY wanted to put a higher score on my common app.

Yeah, I feel bad for all of the people that needed this score for common app. I don’t think I got a higher score than I did last time, so I’m not too too worried, but what enrages me is that the ACT corp is trying to justify their actions when they have clearly messed up.

Yeah I really wanted to put those scores on my common app because I am almost certain that they are higher. And I don’t think this whole give them a break statement is valid because we PAY them to take this test and receive accurate scores quickly, which hasn’t been a problem before so why now when it is most important for many people???
