December 2010 Sat CR (Journalists)

Umm, today was the first time I took the SAT (Subject Tests I took last June). I figured that taking the SAT 2 days after turning 16 would be auspicious to some degree.

Yes.

just out of curiosity, did anyone else have a CR experimental with an elephant giving birth after 22 months? (propagate)

ya it was 40/7. lets shift our focus to the last 20 minute CR section. the passages were both about the New Media.
was one of the answerws like “overstatement because it takes more than just a communications tool kit”?

"gohackers: the answer was 40/7 right? "

What question are you talking about? This isn’t the math topic but… I don’t remember it as an answer. And I pretty sure I had that test version. (Had questions about sharing candy with kids and average temperatures per day in a month)

Haha this was my first SAT too… let’s hope it’s first and only D:

40/7 was for 3x+4y=40 and x<=y, asking for the max value of x.

Yes, overstatement was correct.

It wasn’t overstatement I put something about how it only a sophisticated few can actually be journalists

Oh wasn’t both Prince Charles and the author have in common was they were both offended by something?
and what “incongruency” (?) referred to was the difference between a modernized city and a rural town it once was. right?

I’m not sure if overstatement was the word, but I know for sure that the reason was that there’s more needed than just a tool kit.

Yes and yes.

“40/7 was for 3x+4y=40 and x<=y, asking for the max value of x.”

I was under the impression that it asked for integers.

at youwrotethis. I was torn bettwen that one “sophistication only few possese” and “overstatment because it takes more than a tool kit.”
the author seemed to be talking about not only sophistication in writing but also the ability to gather the right information and stay unbiased. so wouldn’t that make the correct answer the tool kit one?..

Nope, sorry. Though that would have been really easy, especially for a last question.

I put overstatement because the passage talked about how they needed more than just how to utilize the tools

and what were the choices for “incongruency” question?

the CR section with modern architecture was freaking impossible. I remember going through the vocab and the other passage really quick. And then it took me like 5 minutes to read the passage on architecture. Half of it did not make sense, which made the questions take an hour and then i skipped 2 anyways and prob got the rest wrong. And its not experimental since i had math experimental. I never had such a hard passage like that

and what was the similarity between the writer and the prince?
I said they were both offended … due to lapses and stuff…
I don’t really get that question

Yo… no more Math por favor

So you guys all think that the architecture passage was difficult? For me it was the journalist passage that kicked my ass

Well I guess I got the overstatement and morally flexible wrong… one more and I’m out for an 800 >_>

on the journalism passage, there were like number 11 and 12 both asking for what the words in context mean. one was “covered” and the asnwer to that was report on. any1 remember what the other question was about?

Was the last sentence completion refuted/disputable?
