December 2010 Sat CR (Journalists)

I don’t think it asked for that. It simply provided a scenario and asked for how she would respond, in this case “Many Indians overseas maintain warm relations with friends at home”.

Number 52: Overstatement :)

second college passage: actively promotes a view point
My reasoning was that the first passage gave points supporting both sides (colleges are simply exercising property rights, students are upset), whereas the second passage was biased against the free zones (eliminate right to free speech anywhere else, ridiculous how protests are pre-screened, etc.)

does anyone remember what the “liberal” question was referring to?

I didn’t take the test but am trying to help you guys make a complete compilation…

Should the sc about the elephant where the answer was social be added to the list or was it experimental?

And was the snowflake question an sc and what was the answer?

Oh and has anyone tried to locate any of the passages like they did on the other thread? Has anyone googles searched seVa and mr. H? I don’t know his name

Great idea marsha.ss! I believe I have found the “Journalist” source. It is from a book entitled Darjeeling by Bharti Kirchner. Anyone have the book?

@gohackers/everyone else

im confused as to where in the passage bout architecture it said that “modernism lost public favor” - it never mentioned the public. it only talked about the architects, the businessmen, and his own opinion…

Journalist:

snoopi, the liberal question is referring to the best word that could replace “liberal” in architecture passage. The sentence goes like this: …(an American architect) is known for liberal use of historical…

[Darjeeling: A Novel - Google Books](<a href=“Darjeeling: A Novel - Bharti Kirchner - Google Books”>Darjeeling: A Novel - Bharti Kirchner - Google Books)

the passage starts on liek page 1

^Awesome!!! Yep, that’s it. Now lets see if we can find the architecture passage.

does anyone have the architecture one?

regarding the “liberal” question then, how in the world would that signify “plentiful”? if i do remember correctly, the passage was mentioning how some American architect was able to play off the historical element but integrate modern elements as well into building the new wing.

I think the architecture passage is from The Prince of Wales: Right or Wrong? by Maxwell Hutchinson and Richard Rogers

did anyone have the following sentence completion?

The title the father’s arcane daughter implies that the daughter is…?

^I believe that the answer is ENIGMATIC

Good work guys.

@Snoopi: I don’t get that either… I put morally flexible and that seems completely right to me :PP Did you guys put losing identity for how the journalist movement is progressing or whatever the last question was?

I can confirm this is correct. I remember comparing arcane with the all the answer choices.

Problematically, I recall the word “majority” being in the answer choice you mentioned. There was no indication of modernist architecture losing public favor with any quantifiable group of people. Thus, the victim-of-its-own-popularity answer is likely better, as it’s more supported by the actual passage.
