December 2010 - SAT Math 2 Thread

There went my hopes of 800 when I had about 10 blanks and 10 minutes were left.

So, how did you guys do?
Better/worse than expected?
Did you find the test hard? etc.

I had around 3 blanks. So 800 is barely hanging in the balance here, seeing as I probably will get more than 3 wrong.

I didn’t think the test was super hard, but a couple of the last questions did confound me. :frowning:

Generous curve? I hope so!

how did u guys take the test already…

anyways, dont worry. its over and behind you. enjoy ur Saturday

I skipped like 8. but i have heard that you can still get an 800 with a 42 if the curve is reallllllyy generous, which it usually is in December
but haha i doubt i made no other mistakes! :(

I dont live in the US. Im guessing thts how it is for the others too.

oh ok. im pretty sure internationals have different exams than us. atleast thats how it is for the SAT

Not necessarily. I’m international and I’ve always checked my answers (both SAT I and II) with the threads posted here.

wowww that test was HARD. i skipped 11…there goes my chance for a 700+ i think

I felt that it was easier (for me) than October, but I was so much better prepared this time and I had the TI-89 instead of the 84 which makes a lot of the questions easier. I skipped 5. I’m thinking that skipping 5 basically puts me in line for like a 750-760 assuming I missed like 5 of the ones I did answer.

is it better to skip like 5 and guess 3 or simplyy skip 8 total…?? i ended up doing the first…b/c seeing too many blank spaces makes me nervous=(

oh yeah… and too bad i haven’t learned how to use the ti nspire or ti 89…it’s suchhh a shortcut!1

@haeji93: Better to skip 8 than skip 5 and guess 3 randomly, but if you are making “good” guesses then statistically it is better to skip 5 and guess 3. Like, if you can narrow it down to 2 answers, then it’s good to guess.

^^Well, it depends on whether you get those 3 right. But provided that you didn’t get all of your guesses wrong, you probably made the right choice.

Personally, I found this test easier than October’s, although I got a Barron’s book and looked it over. I left 3 or 2 blank, so I think I have a chance at an 800, and definitely at a score higher than 730. I was halfway done this time when 20 minutes came up.

The only questions that I stupidly omitted was the one about $840 and the 2 people leaving and it costing $35 more; the one with vectors, and perhaps some other one.

BTW, I used a TI-Nspire CAS. It was pretty helpful in some problems with the solve() function. I didn’t make the mistake again of using it for every problem though, because it can be faster to do some by hand.

haha yeah…i hate the “statistically” part. for some reason, at leeast on the sat1, I ALWAYS choose the wrong answer choice, even if i narrow down to 2…sigh.
idk i feel like for some of them. i kept on getting answers that were close, but not exact…ughh like for the triangle prism and the room rent fee one…<<i feel like these should’ve easily given me an answer:T

presidont: yeahhh. i starteddd panicking when i had like 5 min left so i plugged in all the answer choices for the 840$ rent fee one, but I couldn’t get an answer…i skipped the vector one too…but apparently it was jst like like in the middle of the two vectors and the opposite of that…the test usually never has vectors!! but it appeared on the november test too=(

taking physics this year makes the vector q’s really easy :)

haeji93: lol, when I had 5 minutes left and 3 questions left over, I panicked, jumping from one to the next. I guess I should have just sticked with one! (And I didn’t get to recheck my “flagged” questions - I had like 5 of those).

How you do it was using this:

840/(k-2)=840/k+35
k=8

Plug back in. Haha so simple yet so hard.

For those who thought the vector question easy, what quadrant was the vector in? I put an answer, but I’m not sure if it’s right…

FOX!!!
I don’t know what happened, but I slowed down halfway during the test when the proctor said there were 40 mins left, I only had 30 questions left…then I think I slacked off and slowed down… FKK!!! Missed 11 questions…didn’t get to the last ones on time…
