December 2012 - Physics

For the pipe kicked, what was t and Vo? I think i put 2m if that was an option. 5m seems familiar too

Has anyone taken this exam before and can provide insight regarding the difficulty of this form? What do you predict the curve will be ?

Nobody can predict the curve. Nobody can tell you whether you should cancel your scores.

Just use score choice and send the good ones out…if they’re all bad, email admissions officers at your college and ask for an extension to the January dates. Simple. If you don’t make it, you don’t make it. I feel like I bombed Physics but we’ll see.

^pretty much what I’m thinking now. purmou, are you a senior too?

No, I’m a sophomore, but I’m graduating this year. :)

Physics was a lot tougher than any practice test in PR, Barrons and SparkNotes. So, I hope the curve is going to be lenient. I vaguely remember that I may have left 5-6 questions, but I’m pretty sure that I was right in the rest.

As for Doppler effect question, it A. The velocity of sound wave increases w.r.t observer. This causes the decrease in frequency. Wavelength remains the same.

I think I got 20 wrong!

@hoping, I’m pretty sure the velocity increase w.r.t observer is so minimal it wouldn’t change anything. But wavelength definitely decreases a lot - [Doppler effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Doppler effect - Wikipedia)

@MinuteMaid @Hoping
V of sound stays the same
Wavelength decreases and frequency increases as it approaches you.

How much did you guys get? I got 770. I think I’ll give it again in January.

Are you kidding me. That’s an excellent score! I got 720 and I’m jumping up and down right now.

Hey- how about a comparison of SAT physics scores and level of physics studied? For example, I’ve taken two semesters of regular physics and score of 720 (which I’m absolutely happy about). What about you people who have taken AP physics?

Yay, 800! Only around half a semester of physics (at the level involving any significant amount of maths; I’m in the UK).

Congratulations on the 800!
Also, for clarification: my “regular” physics was a mostly conceptual class (practically no math involved). Our program doesn’t do much math until AP physics.

Thanks. Ah okay, that makes more sense.

530, and no official physics course taken (in high school, at least). Still completely dissatisfied.

Skipped 13 and got a 800…:>

Sater1996, do you feel you got all the ones you answered right? I want to get a sense of the curve. I plan on taking physics in january.

@SATnotACT I’m sure that I got all my answers right except the two regarding spectrum… I’ve never thought that the curve’s gonna be SO generous

770 and this was my last chance, I think this score is good enough
