This thread is interesting, probably going to linger around here, although I’m not taking this one.
@Calchong I agree with @kentonpalmer haha, sometimes I study during math, AP English and Spanish. I also deliberately wake up super early in the morning 4 am (to exercise 1 hr, plus study 1hr) which also seems beneficial to me considering I sleep early(9:30 pm). It’s all about time managment in reality; I get home around 2:10, finish homework by 4:00, study for school (if I need to until 6 pm) 6pm break until 7pm, 7pm studying specifically for SAT until 9pm, and 30 minutes of free time. Sometimes I take a nap when I get home, so I wake up around 3:30 and finish homework by 5:00, etc etc.
I’m sure you can find time if you manage your time well, or speed up the process of doing homework, or if you have a job, possibly review during your break / during your job (on your phone, take some pics lol)
@dncn888 That’s impossible to answer with any certainty, considering I know nothing about your drive or study habits. In short, the answer is yes-that is definitely possible. I’ve heard people naturally do better the second time around, so good luck on reaching your goal this time. I’m in a similar boat as you (680 math, 730 CR, 800 writing).
I got a 2250 in October (800 math, 700 CR, 750 Writing), so ideally I need to increase 50 points in around 2 weeks, which shouldn’t be too hard since I can study a lot during Thanksgiving Break.
@JuicyMango It is much easier to increase your score if you have a 1200 than a 2250. Consequently, it is much easier to decrease your score of 2250 than a 1200. Nonetheless I wish you the best of luck.
@IBGuy101: I get what you mean, but I also know I’m capable of scoring a 2300+ because that’s what I was getting on practice tests leading up to the actual test. On test day, I think I just got nervous and couldn’t focus. Now I’m focusing more on calming down and realizing that the SAT doesn’t matter that much.
Im in a position similar to your’s, but im just going for a 2200+. I remember you from the october thread! & i dont think you’ll be under as much stress because you have a 2250 already, which is perfectly fine (actually my target).
I got a 2180 in October, with a 750 CR and 750 W but a 680 in math. As a prospective engineering student, this is NOT acceptable, so I’m taking it again hoping for at least a 740 math score.
I’m not a great test taker especially in math because I make dumb mistakes and gloss over stuff. It’s reallly irritating because I know I’m capable of a high score but it never shows on my tests. I hadn’t studied for the October test but it’s looking like I’m going to need to put some hard work into it if I’m gonna raise my math score.
Good luck in December everyone. I’m too burned out at the moment to study, and will probably wait until January, but I still hope for a lenient December curve for your guys’ sake. If I’m really lucky, my November score will be good enough to skip January altogether, but I’m not holding my breath. Hopefully we’ll all reach the scores we seek (in my case, 2300+).
I’m extremely nervous for this test. It’s my last chance to take it before applications are due and it’s making me very nervous. I need to raise my score by 100 points at least.
how do you sleep before the test? should you start sleeping earlier about 1 week before, or is it 2-3 days? I went to bed at 10 for the oct test and ended up falling asleep at 3:30am because i got too nervous and started freaking out. I ended up getting 700 cr, even though i usually get 730-760.
Hey guys…I’m also taking the SAT in December. Thank god we have Thanksgiving break–I know what I’ll be doing!
(Oh wait no I won’t because ALL MY TEACHERS GAVE US TEN MILLION HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS. ugh so much for a break…)
Since math is the easiest to study for and only requires consistent practice and review, and my only problem with writing was being unable to recognize the more difficult grammar rules, I think 2200+ should be pretty easy to pull off this time around. Good luck to everyone.
