My final push to change my future. I can feel the pressure but also am pushed by it. Currently on my 13th practice test and plan to exhaust the blue book and online course by the end of this weekend. Going to read erica and practice Dr.Chung’s until next Saturday. Good luck everyone. Currently at 2000~, aiming at 2150.
@Cheesusrice Your post literally speaks to me. I believe were in the same boat. The highest score I’ve had so far is a 2050 - 640 CR, 650 M and 760 WR And I’ve been aiming for a 2200 for a while now… Does anyone have any tips on which section I should try to bring up the fastest?
go on amazon tonight, over night the barrons math book, finish it before dec 5, recieve good score. That book took me from 700 to 800 on average; however, i rushed it when i actually took it and made silly errors, so im taking again for the 800. Also the barrons reading book’s word list (only) will boost your score, as the rest of the book is useless.
Just got back my score from sat 2 math in november and so i was looking through some forums and saw you got 790 also, i was wondering if you ended up redoing it ??
@kentonpalmer haha thanks! I’m actually working on math right now and using PWN the SAT’s math guide. I got a 700 on my last practice test…now I’m just trying to avoid making careless errors (:
WILL THIS TEST BE RECYCLED?!?!?!?!?!??
On the October test I scored a 2060 (worst math curve). Im hoping for 2250 on this one. (October: 740 M 640 CR 680 W 9E
@TheEpic2401Man Yes, just like every other US test is. (Sarcasm)
@harry322 hi!! i scored a 2060 too (CR 630 Math 740 Writing 690 9E) on the October test and I’m hoping for a 2250 on this one tooo! :-j ^:)^
I took the SAT for the first time in November. I’ve done every math section of the blue book and the Barron’s book, and now I’m using a book called “Conquering SAT Math.” Khan Academy’s math prep has been really helpful too. Still…I’ve been getting so frustrated. It seems like no amount of practice is enough, because I still get stuck/run out of time during practice tests. I know my score isn’t bad as is, but like an idiot I went and fell in love with a very, very difficult school. I’m only a junior, so I should feel like I have plenty of time to improve, but I’m so much more comfortable with the current SAT format. Is there any free math prep similar to Khan Academy that people would recommend?
Ive done 5 of the sats in the blue book thus far and have got 4 800’s in math and 1 770-800 (1 wrong). Now i dont use a calculator and it saves me a ton of time. Im getting the 25 min sections finished in 15 min. I honestly have no clue how i got a 680 in october i feel like its possibly i get 2300 this time IF and only if i can write an 11 or 12 essay and have some luck.
Out of curiosity can people state some schools theyre going for? I feel like we have many hopefuls trying to make a dream possible! I am one of them, as i sit at a 2110 rn.
My hopeful schools: mit yale, columbia, dartmouth. And such. Needing this sat! Ironically im on the waitlist, if i dont get a test im offering someone $500 to leave the test center
I’m really scared about my score this time. I’ve been practicing loads, and my predicted score on the practice tests is 2200+ usually, but I’m just nervous about getting there from a 2030 in a real testing situation. I’m hopeful, though.
@cornellaspirant It is important that you feel relaxed and confident during the test, which I know is hard in a real testing situation. For the November test, I didn’t feel prepared, but I just signed up in case the passages were digestible or the essay prompt was up my alley. I fully expected to cancel my exam, and because I felt like I had nothing to lose, I did much better than I expected. Don’t be hopeful for a good score; expect a good score, and earn it. Arrogance is key. On my first try, I was nervous about most questions, and changed many correct answers. The second time, I considered every answer I wrote unquestionably right, and I mentally dared the Collegeboard to pick any other answer haha. Go get that 2200+!
@kentonpalmer I’m going for UCLA, Berkeley, USC and Northwestern. I sit at 2240 regular scored (for UC schools) and 2330 superscored (for the private schools). Good luck on your dreams man! Hope all of ours become realities! You don’t need luck to get a 2300, especially with those amazing practice math scores.
I got 800 M on November SAT (a lot of people said it was hard but I found it easy :P) and a 660 CR even though that’s the only section I prepped for all Summer :L I used to get 540s CR practice but sometimes got 690s. What am I doing wrong?? D: I want a 720+ CR
This will be my third and final attempt. So far i sit at 2300, and 2330 superscore. I really need to get an 800 math and decent score in reading at the same time so I can be competitive for bs/md programs. One stupid mistake in math in october is why I am taking this stupid test again.
I don’t understand why people are retaking 2300s…Don’t you realize that you’re well above the 50th percentile in terms of scores for any Ivy league college and retaking some test 4+ times just to increase it by 10 or 20 points above 2300 will not give you an advantage. In fact, colleges might look down on this as someone being too preoccupied with grades. -__-
@pokemon1 In your chance thread, you said you got a 2350 on your third try. Even if that wasn’t true, I bet it will be after this upcoming test. Still, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be satisfied with the scores you have. I highly doubt that math mistake in October will cost you admittance to any school.
uhhh I keep missing 4 or 5 writing MCs on my practice tests guys what can i do
omg sameeeeeeeejdidjwixucud. I did 12 writinf sections from mcgraw hill book and kept getting 1-4 questions wrong. Thankfully the cb exams are clearer in their writing sections. Hoping for 800 m 800 w and 780 r. I realized my goals were to low so i upped them. The reading and math are what im least worried about. I feel like 800 in writing takes a little luck tbh…
It’s a great idea that you upp your goals so that you have a mindset of “i better do good on this test!” when you take the test!
I personally am also struggling on the reading section, I just keep missing like 9 or 10 on my practice tests not including sentence completion. How do you improve on the reading section? I’ve been doing OG tests and reviewing my answers and stuff. There is improvement but I really want to minimize the number to like 3 or 4 if possible. Right now it seems impossible to me
