December ACT 2008 Reading

tsh - what was the question ?

it was asking which of the following were mentioned first in the Indian music passage

I’m pretty certain it was “she wasn’t sure about going”. I was indecisive between the two as well, but the other isn’t supported in the passage.

I think i put she wasn’t sure about going, though I don’t remember for sure

Also, the answer to that one was London I think, it was mentioned in the 3rd paragraph, but it happened the earliest (in the 1960s)

I’m pretty sure that she was anxious but understood how things might interfere with her plans. The passage says that they have to sell the wheat before winter for her to be able to go to college, and she is obviously excited about it.

she was excited…she was anxious…becasue from the end of the passage you read that she was filled with emotion when her dad decided to sell…(presuming they were gonna pay for her college with the money)

I got lucky with that Indian music passage - I am not Indian, but I love classical Indian music and modern takes on it.

Find then on youtube and groove away…

Sorry for digression!

what about the one asking about the mothers qualities? or w/e on the wheat girl passage?

i put the towns people didnt really understand her…i was stuck between that and that her face was expressive and she had a deep laughter…

“I’m pretty sure that she was anxious but understood how things might interfere with her plans. The passage says that they have to sell the wheat before winter for her to be able to go to college, and she is obviously excited about it.”

But she was unsure about going in the first place.

“i put the towns people didnt really understand her…”

This should have been it. The other was basically the opposite of how the narrator describes her–she tended to not show emotion.

Say that it was true that she was “unsure,” the first part of the answer still would not make sense because it said that “She was positive of the capability of attending a university but was unsure about whether she should go.”

For the mother I put that the townspeople did not understand her.

^second on both counts.

The mother was not known for her laughter.
Townsfolk did not know her well.

The girl’s college thing was pivoting on the crops sale.

i just want to say that the first passage about wheat and crap was the most boring thing i’ve ever read.

It could help if you imagined yourself waiting for the stats broadcast instead of the ACT scores online. :D

i put warning as the answer… anyone agree with me?!

What about this one:

Question was something about the music and who feels what way…

A) Ihder
B)Rehk
c) rabadish
D)…

Another question was accoring to _________, what music affected the Indian music?

A) jazz
B) Western and Indi…
C)…
D)…

Please dont get upset for me not remembering the questions and choices completely… I was just wndeirng about this…

–AL

I Put B for the first one. I skimmed through it, but am pretty sure it was right.
I don’t know about the other one… srry.
Hey, what did you get for the ‘first thing that happened’ question? I think it was the second question.

Yeah I second tmz. But was there a guy name Rahaman (or something similar to that) in the passage? All these names sounds so similar =(

And yeah I don’t remember that second question either.

There was a guy named Rahaman.
God… I’m never going to listen to Indian song now, lol.
That passage was SOSOSOSOSO!!! boring and freaking hard to read.
I only had 5 minutes to do that passage, so I half-guessed and skimmed though like 5 of the questions.

Ok then I think I put rahaman. I actually found the inference in the passage. So I am sure rahaman is correct.

I just got confused between all these Indian names that sounds so similar.

Why did it have to be about such a boring topic!
put stuff like squids and colosseum for god’s sake u ACT !#@^!#@^!%!!!1
