Is the december ACT too late for RD ? If I take it do I need to send my scores without knowing or can I see them first ? And should I take it with or without the writing portion. I already took the SAT I and my scores were CR 590 Math 720 Writing 610 so I was hoping the Act would help me
Every year until this year, it depended on one factor, the particular college involved. Most take the December ACT for regular admission even though application deadlines may be early Jan, although some suggest identifying the college as one to receive scores in your test registration and thus send them blind. However, there are some for which it is too late.
This year there may be a second issue. ACT changed the writing section of the test and the way it is graded with the Sep test. Its management apparently overlooked that it might need more resoursces to get the scores out in time with the new system. The result has been that there are still many who took the Sep 12 ACT who do not have their writing scores. ACT has admitted there are delays but its VP who publicly conceded the delay offered no solution except for students to submit photocopies of their section scores to colleges for EA and ED and tell the college that offical scores would come when the writing test was graded. Thus far, ACT is offering nothing to assure test-takers that it will fix the problem for the Oct test, which many were also depending on for ED or EA, and it is giving no assurance it will be fixed for the Dec test. Thus, those who want to take the Dec test for RD and intend to take the wriitng section cannot at this time be assured their offical scores will arrive in time to be used for RD by many colleges which traditonally have taken the Dec test for RD…
