December ACT with writing?

Hey guys,

So this is what Brown says about testing on their FAQ:

“Regular Decision applicants should complete all required testing by the December test date and arrange for results to be sent directly to Brown on or before the January 1 Regular Decision deadline. You may also submit additional test scores from the January administration of the SAT; however, we cannot guarantee that these test scores will be received in time to be reviewed with your application. All applicants should have a complete set of test scores sent to Brown prior to the January 1 deadline.”

I took my ACT with writing on December 9th, and had Brown listed as one of the automatic sending schools. The thing is, the writing takes a longer time to process. The complete ACT was only able to send at the end of the month, I think around the 23rd. I believe it takes about 2 weeks for ACT scores to send to schools, so I’m uncertain as to whether Brown will accept the scores. (I sent a separate score to Brown previously, so I won’t be able to check whether it’s been received). Does anybody have any insights? I’m a little freaked right now. Should I contact Brown?

You should be fine. You had the earlier ACT scores submitted well before the deadline and a second set is on the way. Did you self-report the new ACT scores on the Common App?

Shoot, I didn’t even realize that was an option. I only reported my APs.

Does it hurt at all that I didn’t self-report?

It would have been helpful to self report because they would know you have the new set of ACT scores on the way. However, the new set should arrive at Brown in plenty of time to be added to your file.
