How's everyone fare?
S went up in math from 680 to 720;
up in reading from 600 to 6210
up in writing from 700 to 730.
anyone know how the essay works in the writing score?
i know people who've gotten 800 in writing and only a 10 on the essay.
and as of today, the essay score is not visible, correct?
and yet there is a writing score . . .

This morning I told laid back son that his scores were on line. (I don't have his user name and password.) He said, "Oh, I'll just look at them after school." Wish I could be as laid back as he is!

Scores for first try:

740 Critical Reading
700 Math
800 Writing

I must admit I am pretty satisfied with these scores as the composite (2240) surpassed even my best practice test score (2210) and oddly enough exactly matched my Junior year PSAT score (which to the best of my recollection was 224). However, I am a bit uneasy at the fact that I have heard that many admissions officers disregard the writing score (see my related thread), and that I scored perfectly in that section. Even so, a 1440/1600 is really nothing to sneeze at.

How did everyone else fare?

I just saw my scores and I am really disappointed because of my reading score. I realize that I am not a native speaker but I expected a higher score...
Reading - 560 (I wanna shoot myself in the head :( )
Math - 670
Writing - 730

This is my first time taking the real test. Do you have any advises for improving critical reading? =[

Gia- for not being a native speaker, the critical reading must be freakishly hard, so don't feel bad about your score! I can barely handle it, and I've never spoken anything but English... ever.

MA 710
WR 730
CR 750
2190.

I was really disappointed in math because I got an 80 on the PSAT... but life goes on. First time taking it, and it might have been my last.

This might be a silly question but..
When you send your SAT scores to a certain college and you've taken the test multiple times, do they look at your highest cumulative score or they add up the highest scores from different sections?

Hey
Got scores today:
760 Math
730 Writing
670 Reading
Previously I was looking to get into Ivy's or something high. Scores don't reflect that, especially reading, so its pretty much necessary to take it again? Any thoughts?

My son just got his:

CR 690
Math 620
Writing 700
Total 2010

For my Asperger's Syndrome, ADD, math challenged son, that's pretty darned good. Math is better than his practice tests. CR is disappointing...he was expecting over 700, but he's not far off.

My plan is for him to return to Evil Waste of Money SAT Prep School for the math workshops (because they really did help him in math) and to tell him to forget everything they taught him in CR, then retake in April.

Those scores put him in great shape for every school he was considering except Rice.

first time i took it
CR 740
Math 760
Writing 660 --> this makes me want to cry

the weird thing is i got an 80 on my PSAT...i have no idea the essay could bring it down that much
do u think colleges (like ivy leagues) look at the writing score a lot?

first time. besides once in seventh grade for johns hopkins cty (i got 580/580 then)

this made my day. I was expecting around a 2200 but i got 2320

cr - 740
math - 780
writing - 800
(78 / 11)

the writing really surprised me because writing has always been my weak point and I was expecting around a 700 at best. december of junior year with a 1520 feels good. I may or may not retake it now. I was definitely planning on taking it twice more but then again, I had expected 2200 at best this first time.

:( my sat scores were pretty much the reverse of my psat scores... CR down to 670... writing down to 700 but math up??

Depends on the College. My top choice is St. Edward's, where they take your best sub-scores and add them together for a composite. But not every school does that. You should talk to their admission's office, probably.

Dec 06/June 07/Dec 07

CR-530/620/630
M-550/710/780
W-500/560/610

C-(1580,1080)/(1890,1330)/(2020,1410)

Just shows that a little hardwork can go a long way.
