December SAT

Hi everyone,

I'm a senior right now and I've taken the SAT two times. My best single sitting score is a 2240 and that's my Super Score as well. I am content with the score but the thing is, my math score is significantly less than the other two (it is a 680). I know many schools weight CR and math more than writing so my 1600 score is slightly lower than the average that many of the schools that I'm looking into applying to.

If I prepare, I think that it's possible (but necessarily guaranteed) that I can get 30 or so more points on the math section and boost my 1600 score up to the average that most top schools usually accept. Is it worth retaking the SAT in December to potentially bring my Super Score up by 30-50 points?

Also, do most schools accept December SAT scores for regular decision? Or will it be too late since it usually takes about a little while for schools to receive the test scores and they could potentially not get them until after January 1st?

Thanks in advance for help!

I think you should try, the curve will also be lighter in december. And yes most schools would accept it. Biut have you done sat 2s? Most elite schools require those as well. Then you should go for those instead atleast 2 of them.

@WaseeZafar‌, thanks for the advice and yes, I have already taken two SAT 2s (and did well on both, so I’m not planning on retaking them).

I believe most schools do accept Dec. scores, so it won’t hurt your chances to retake the SAT. You have about a month to study and practice math questions in preparation for the SAT so if you are willing and able to dedicate some time to studying, then go for it! What schools are you planning to apply to?

Good luck!

@NicoleL‌, I am going to apply to Vanderbilt, Williams, Cornell, Brown, Georgetown and a few other targets/safeties. I’m definitely going to prepare for it and hopefully, I can get the last 30-40 points that I need!
