So i did this same style thread for the November SSAT and it was helpful for some of the test takers, so i’m doing it again for this month’s test. In the comments you can rant about the SSAT only. Please don’t put your chance me in the comments. You can share your you scores if you feel comfortable. Ask as many questions as you want.
As for me:
I took the test this month for the seconded time. If i were to compare it to the November test, i would say that the verbal and math was easier, but the reading was harder. I am also wondering about when the scores will come out because it is so close to the holidays. I don’t want to spend my winter break worrying over my scores. Im kind of hoping to receive it by December 23. We will see.
For me, I felt like the entire test was easier overall, but my brain was really out of it that day. I found myself struggling to work myself through the simplest of problems that I would have usually finished in two seconds on a good day. So… yeah. Not my best and my wack brain probably just thought it was easy but got a 50%ile overall. If they release the scores on the same schedule as last month, they should be out on the 24th, but we’ll see, I suppose.
@mondaydevil you probably did great on the test if anyone is getting a 50 it’s me. Also, yeah idk i wasn’t really focused on the reading. I hope it comes out soon. And i will c if i need to take the test on january depends on this score. I hope i don’t need to.
DD says she has no clue how it went compared to November.
Results — usually the Wednesday 11 days later but that is Christmas Day this year so not sure! Crossing fingers for results a day early?
The good news: verbal went up by 33 points. (Still not stellar at 64 but at least not 31! Phew!)
The other sections went down a bit though. Argh.
If a school superscores (most do from what I can find? Except DA?) how can they not be at least a little bit influenced by seeing other less-good scores?
@Calliemomofgirls im so happy for you. That’s a huge increase! Ps Deerfield super scores.
We took it twice Oct & Nov and I asked all the schools and they said they most definitely would super score. Even though our percentile stayed the same and the total score only increased by 3 points I still sent both.
@Calliemomofgirls so, in regards to schools being influenced by the low score, I think a large difference like your daughter’s shows that the test is flawed. My guess is schools look at that and then go look at her English teacher rec. if that’s amazing the ssat score gets downgraded to less important.
The test is flawed of course. Just so happens some kids are good at doing well on it regardless of the flaws.
I will say I have seen info that links ssat score to sat score so in several years you may want to have your daughter prep long and hard for the sat.
Glad to hear about the increase in verbal score. For me, my score went up somehow! I’m really excited about this ahaha. Would you recommend sending both scores @amumof2?
that isn’t a fail??? you did good and i think that’s in range for a lot of scores and as long as the rest of your applications good im pretty sure your all set
@FunnyFlamer45 an 89% is hardly failing. There are plenty of kids who would love to have that score and some of them are on CC. There are plenty of name recognized schools with an average ssat of 85%.
also @FunnyFlamer45 I checked out your profile and you were in 8th grade in 2017, right? If you’re applying for 11th grade, good luck! I heard there’s a really competitive applicant pool
V-79%,
R-88%
Q-84%
This is with 12 years of Tap/Jazz, 7 years of flute and 3 years of chorus. Regionals in flute 3 years in a row.
Applying to Choate and Loomis. Chance me ??
@prep2024 I’m in now way an expert, but I think that score looks good and with 12 years of dance and 7 years of flute, that shows you’re dedicated, so solid chance?
