What did everyone think of the test today? Analogies were a lot tougher than normal in my opinion..

OH my god. Thank You so much. I just missed my SSAT, I thought it was tomorrow. Crap. I just rescheduled it. THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH.

My 8th grader took SSAT today, the following is the estimate.

Math: he missed 2
Verbal: he missed 9
Reading: he missed 5

For me, the analogies were definitely the hardest part, but overall the test felt easier than last year, maybe because I prepared more this year.

analogies were hard but the rest was easier than I thought it would be. Second math section was a pain.

I second everything that magged just said… Definitely.
Reading was easy.

Reading was pretty easy, but what was that “Eternal Master” poem about? I did not understand that…

Which poem was that? I also took the SSAT’s and yes, the analogies went from easy to major difficulty and the 5th section I probably answered about 10/20 questions but overall it was a mix. Some things I knew because I studied, others I didn’t, so I didn’t bother answering them.

5th section doesn’t count. And that was the poem that first talked about the bird, then the 'Eternal Poem", then the last line was something about Macbeth. Overall I felt that the Math was about average, vocab was a little easier than normal, analogies were incredibly hard, and reading was a bit harder than normal. (This was my 3rd time taking the test.)

3 times in a roll? any significent jump of scores?

Analogies were difficult for me. @Phillipshopeful -The last line from “Eternal Poem”, had to do with summing up the whole definition of poetry. I took the November SSAT and the verbal part was the only part that I got everything right, and that text was used twice.

Huge jump…really disappointing.

Upper level as a 7th grader (took it faking to be an 8th grader, so I could get real practice)-97%

October SSAT this year as an 8th grader-91%

And hopefully back up near that 97 this time. Guessing around 92-94.

Wow! verbal is what I struggle with…I’m usually around the 98-99% for math, 95% for reading and mid 80’s to low 90s in verbal. Nice job!

I put something about a simple guy doing everything he can or whatever for the Eternal Master poem thing.

Overall, the verbal and math parts were really easy for me. it was reading I think I messed up on. I hate it when it asks you something and you take like, 5 minutes to answer!

I didn’t answer the Eternal master poem question because I knew I would get it wrong. @phillipshopeful I know what you’re going through, this is my third time taking the test as well. This time I studied and knew that vocab was my weak point, but the verbal section will more than likely bring down my score :/

Exactly! I can count on at least two 95% in reading and math, but the verbal will always hover around the 87 mark or lower…

My son felt good for this Dec test. it is his first time and he prepared only for 2 weeks. We have to wait to see.

Well good luck to all of you when the results come. (Is it a week or two-week wait this time?) I just really want it because if I get a good score I can finish the application for my two schools, and maybe even add in a few last minute. :)

May I ask where you’re applying? What’s your target score?

Phillipshopeful, we are at same boat of PEA, target of 2280-2320.
