December SSATs

Just wondering who is taking their SSAT on December 12? Are you excited? Do you think you are ready? Have you been studying alot or what?

AND: If you have already taken it, question....did you study alot?

Hi, yeah, i’m taking it.

I had taken the November Ssat. I got an 89% on it. So, i’m to improve on my reading comprehension skills.

You don’t have to study that much. the Math section is very easy. If you’re on of those people who are very good at math, that’s no problem.

The reading comprehension, it’s kind of harder, because there are quite a lot of passages you have to read. Just remember to underline key words, that will help you a lot.

For verbal, just simple, study vocabulary words, and ROOT WORDS as well. this will help you. most words have root words that are frequent in vocabulary, you should study root words and memorize them a lot.

and just relax, being nervous will only make you have a better chance of skipping answers and having a brain freak attack.

you should also do some practice tests as well. it’s coming up in like 2 weeks, you should practice with some practice tests, in like Kaplan, Peterson, or Princeton Review.

But beware: November SSATs are easier than December SSATs for this year, i think. in the November SSats, there were more international students coming to take the SSATS, which gives YOU a better chance in your Percentile, since you might do better than the international people. I’m not sure about December.

But, dont worry, as long as you study about every day, you’ll be fine.

SSATs also don’t matter that much, just to see if you are capable of doing the work.

The November ones aren’t easier because for both SSAT Test they compare it to people from up to three years ago.

i dont really know, just from experience

Took the november one and got 89%. I want to retake for a better math score. I’m applying to St. Mark’s, Concord Academy, and Middlesex. Are these scores good enough for those schools?

Should i retake?

clydoclyde, where are u applying?

One thing that’s really important though is to be calm and relaxed, don’t stress out!

and don’t try to cram the night before. Get a good nights sleep!

And don’t get tense before, try talking to someone!

I took the november SSAT and got a 94%.

But i’m taking it again to get a higher score on my math.

and also, I definitely think that you will have enough time for the reading section. So don’t try to rush!!

I always underline key points and reread a section if I don’t understand it. I didn’t run out of time at all! (actually, I think I had a little time leftover to check my answers!!)

so stay at a steady pace and don’t rush, it’ll mess your score.

(trust me I know from experience the last thing you want to do is rush through the passages because you think you’re running out of time!)

I am!

whats on the math section? is it just basic stuff or like random stuff u would never actually use? also whats the vocab like, obsure words none would ever really no or ones that are basically root words with a suffix

@ballerinax- why would you retake it if you got a 94% ? thats already very high sso I don’t see the point in retaking for the extra 5 points. thats a ridiculous waist of money

rad, maybe she paid for it and doesn’t want the money to go to waste.

jasony-> ??? i’m saying why would she pay again after her previous score was already perfectly fine. it just seems like a waste to me.

Raid, She probably did what I did, she signed up for 2 dates before hand, I signed up for the October and December ones in September, and I don’t want the December to go to waste so I’m taking it too. BTW I got 97% overall on October, hopefully can bump it up to 99%

I’m sorry but that seems a bit ridiculous to me. I know that you signed u for both to make sure you got the best score you could, but still its just a bit nonsensical to me.

But hey whatever floats your boat. I’m not one to judge over here.

Rad, my guess is cate, just like me, signed up for the November, December SSAT way before it happened because they had to reserve their spot quickly. Also, she didn’t know what her score would be in let’s say July, so in my opinion, it makes a total sense.

what are my chances of getting in if I go on standby?does anyone know?

@Ccer999
yeah! I signed up for the December SSAT even before I knew my November score just to make sure that I had another chance at a better score.

I just signed up for November because I thought it would be too much stress to take it twice.

The December test will be my 1st time ever taking the ssat… and probably my last, because for most schools, dec is the last date. however, i got a 89% on my 1st practice test and then a 99% on my 2nd… so i hav no clue how the real thing’s gonna turn out. any tips from people who hav already taken it? oh, and my weakest section is the verbal.

VERBAL IS GOD AWFUL
besides that its not that bad. math is so easy.
i got a 77% in november, which im happy about, ill probably be able to bump it up to a 80ish

whatevruwantme2be: which schools are you applying to?
