December SSATs

I don’t think you should retake the SSAT. I took it around end of july and got 65% overall…den i toook on november without studying more and got 91%. I think November’s test was really easy.

I am taking it in December for the first time… I havn’t studied that much; on the practice tests iaverage about 94% The verbal is the easiest for me, followed by reading then math which is in the 80s. Im going to spend the week revising for Math, my teacher said he’d help me one lunch which was nice of him.

I´m taking the SSAT on December 12th. It will be my first SSAT and also the only one I will be able to take. I haven´t taken any practice tests yet, because I have only one and want to save it until I´m finished with the Princeton Review prep book. I am sure I´ll be able to score a 87%-99% in the math section of the test, but I might have some vocabulary problems in the other sections, because English is a foreign language to me. Do schools consider this? I mean if I would have a 60%-70% score in the verbal and the reading section it would not be bad at all, would it?

I can’t say for sure but I think they will consider the fact that English is your second language when evaluating your SSAT especiall verbal section score. In my opinion, reading score in your case is more important - they want to make sure you can comprehend what you read. My understnding is that they will take in a few international students each year no matter what, so you are competing with other internatinal students.

If you are international you probably are required to take the TOEFL and they will consider that along with your SSATs

OMG I am taking it December 12! I am scared to pieces, especially about the essay!

I don’t see any point of taking it again if you are already got 97%. You will get a not-so-pretty “multiple” mark, even though your score may or may not improve second time around.

taking my first and only ssat on the 12th! can’t wait!

good luck everyone i took the november one and was kidna pleased and shocked

i mean ppl said the verbal was hard but to me it was the easiest and like math was the hardest… which is weird cause im azn

anyways i got a 97 on verbal but a 75 in math and 93 in reading. all u honestly have to do for vocab is study the roots

how was the essay for nov.?

I thought is was pretty easy. The topic was…PM me if you wanna know.

The essay topics are always general right? Thats what it says in the Princeton Review book, but the Kaplan book gave me sample prompts like “There should be more rules and regulations concerning handguns. Do you agree/disagree with this statement?” I don’t think I could write a good essay about such a narrow topic, especially because I wouldn’t have any good, strong examples at my fingertips.

The essay aren’t all the same. When I took the SSAT there were like 6 other people and we all had different topics.

Um…what if I get someting about handguns and I don’t know anything about handguns?

xflippx3 is correct. The other people’s were different. PaulaZaria you would just talk about crime rate, people who are mental and can’t handle handguns, and things that relate to that. YOu probably won’t get that though.

I have been revising like crazy. I’ve never revised for anything seriously before because I havn’t really needed to but for me the math section is hard :(. I read somewhere i think that you can score quite low in the Math (i average about 78th percentille on prac) and still do fine (93>) overall if your verbal and reading are in the 90s? Is this true? I sure hope so…
