Decent ACT score in 7th grade - Do I submit?

I got a 31 ACT in 7th grade, and I have a significantly better SAT score that was more recent, so I have the choice not to submit it. Will a college see the fact that it was taken in 7th grade or will they only see the less impressive score? Should I submit the score?

Don’t submit a 7th grade score.

I have a significantly better SAT score

There’s no value in sending an inferior score.

First of all - wow - that is an amazing score for any age ! I believe there are many colleges that want scores within a certain age/time range, so your 7th grade score could be considered invalid. Sounds like you have even a stronger recent SAT score - so that should not be an issue depending on your current age/grade now. I am unsure from your post if you are high school senior or junior or younger and thinking ahead ?

They won’t consider a score from 7th grade. They won’t see it if you don’t submit it, and as it is very old, don’t bother. No one would expect a student to submit a score from 7th grade, assuming you are now a senior in high school. Submit your SAT score.

I’m pretty sure College Board doesn’t keep 7th and 8th grande scores in your data base; Bc I was concerned about that possibility with S21 and they said it’s not a problem they wouldn’t be sent bc they discard them once S is in 9th grade.

Not sure if this still holds true but that was what we learned a few years back.

That is still true about collegeboard and SAT (one can ask them in writing to keep pre-HS scores).

OP is asking about ACT scores, which are administered by ACT, not CollegeBoard. Pre-HS ACT scores are not erased from one’s record.

With that said, I agree with the others that OP should not submit a 7th grade ACT score.

Expectation will be that you are sending your best. The fact that you got a reasonable score in 7th grade will not help your candidacy at all.

ACT, which OP referenced, isn’t conducted by College Board. I don’t believe ACT has a policy similar to College Board.

College Board does delete scores in the late Summer for students younger than 9th grade. There is a form to complete, by July, in order to keep them (D22’s 8th grade score is still on her record).
